Buck Pineau-Allan Josselyn Rematch to Headline Amateur Side of Card at New England Fights! Next Event on May 18 in Lewiston, Maine

[NEF Press Release]

Lewiston, Maine (March 28, 2013) -- It is not often that an amateur fight steals the show at a Mixed-Martial Arts (MMA) event and claims the "Fight of the Night" moniker. But that is exactly what middleweights Buck Pineau (5-2) and Allan Josselyn (3-1) did when they put on a show last September before some 3,000 rabidNew England Fights! (NEF) fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

"What a fight that was," exclaimed NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. "It was back and forth the whole way through. Buck took the first round. The second round was extremely close. And then Allan took the third."

After three rounds, the decision went to the judges' scorecards. All three judges scored the bout close at 29-28, all unanimously for the winner Allan Josselyn. Ironically, however, a fight that went the distance could have very easily ended in the opening seconds of the first round when Pineau scored with a vicious head kick followed up by some crushing ground-and-pound.

"That was one heck of a kick," reminisced NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson. "We could actually feel that one at the promotion table cage-side. The fact that Allan Josselyn not only got up from that attack, but come back to actually win the fight, really says something about just how tough a competitor he is."

Pineau, fighting out of Choi's in Portland, Maine, and Josselyn, based out of Team Kaze in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, have agreed to duel a second time. They will meet in the cage on May 18 when NEF returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston. And, for the fans, that means they will once again be treated to another classic between these two rising middleweights. Until then, they can relive the epic first encounter between Pineau and Josselyn at NEF's Youtube page www.youtube.com/NEFMMA.

"The last time we fought it was an entertaining fight," said Josselyn. "I want the fans to be entertained even more this time. Hopefully, another Fight of the Night!"

"I just wanna thank Allan and team Kaze for the opportunity," said Pineau. "I am very excited about this rematch. I've wanted this since the end of the third round of our last encounter. I'm training double hard cause I already know what Allan can take and what he is capable of. This is going to be a fight you're not gonna wanna miss. I've got nothing but respect for Allan and Team Kaze, but I'm lookin' to knock him out on May 18 in Lewiston."

At the time of this writing, the fight card for May 18 in Lewiston consisted of ten professional and more than thirty amateur fights. The main event is scheduled to feature Maine MMA legend Marcus "The Irish Hand Grenade" Davis (21-9) battling Darrius Heyliger (4-1). The co-main event will see UFC veteran Henry Martinez (9-5) squaring off with Jamie Harrison (4-1) for the Maine State Lightweight Title.
