Paul Gorman Signs Multi-Fight Deal With NEF MMA

[NEF Press Release]

Lewiston, Maine (September 11, 2013) – New England Fights MMA (NEF MMA) today announced the signing of Maine State MMA Bantamweight Champion Paul Gorman (9-8) to a multi-fight promotional contract. Gorman announced the signing on a recent episode of the NEF MMA Podcast with host, the matchmaker and co-owner of NEF MMA, Matt Peterson. While the specifics of the contract were not disclosed, the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion’s executives did confirm the deal is structured long-term over the course of several fights.

“I recently signed a multi-fight contract with New England Fights,” Gorman stated during the show. “I’m super excited about that. Business has been slow for me for the last year or so, so I’m ready to get to work on this.”

Paul Gorman, a graduate of Westbrook High School in Westbrook, Maine, began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and MMA under Jay Jack and Amanda Buckner at the Academy of Mixed Martial Arts (AMMA) over ten years ago. Gorman started fighting professionally in 2005. In November 2012, Gorman defeated Adam Toussaint (5-6) in the co-main event of “NEF V” to capture the Maine State MMA Bantamweight Championship. Gorman was recently awarded his black belt in BJJ by Jay Jack.

“Paul Gorman is one of the most talented Maine fighters that is still actively competing on the regional scene,” stated NEF promoter and co-owner Nick DiSalvo. “We are excited and honored that he has decided to sign with us to work on developing the next stage of his career and we look forward to promoting the Maine State MMA Bantamweight Champion for the foreseeable future."

“This deal definitely makes sense for me right now,” Gorman stated. “Fighting in Maine is a huge thing for me. I really enjoy it. It’s nice to be able to fight at home. I’ve had a lot of trouble getting fights as of late. It’s just going to be a great partnership for us to help make it all happen. I just couldn’t be happier to get something set up that’s going to help guarantee me some fights so that I can generate some consistency in my activity level. I just can’t wait to get going.”

NEF MMA also announced that Gorman will defend his championship title on Saturday, November 9th at “NEF XI” at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine. The promotion noted an announcement about Gorman’s opponent for November 9th would be forthcoming and that fans should check www.NewEnglandFights.com for updates.
