COMBAT ZONE 56 11/20/2015 TEASER

Combat Zone returns with their last show of the year this Friday at the Rockingham Park.  This will be their 56th show and it will be a mixed martial arts and a Muay Thai event as well.  There are 13 fights total, 4 of them are Muay Thai, 2 of them are pro mma and there are 2 amateur title fights all in one night!  Warchild and I will be making the trip to cover the action for you all but really you all should come and check it out if you have never been.  Due to have to writing 2 previews this week, I will not be breaking down the Muay Thai fights.  The doors will be opening at 6pm and the fights should start around 7pm.  Follow along as I break down the card.

140 AM MUAY THAI John Bourget 1-0 (Boneyard) vs James Kerivan 2-1 (Wai Kru)
175 AM MUAY THAI Mike Ellis 0-0 (FMA) vs Scott Camuso Sullivan 0-0 (MAXX)
125 AM MUAY THAI Marvin Castro 0-0 (Wai Kru) vs Kevin Flanagan 0-1 (Burgess)
205 AM MUAY THAI Zach Calmus 0-1 (Redline/Victory) vs Christian Pereira 0-0 (Wai Kru)

145 AM MMA Alex Sinprasith 5-12 (Crowsnest MMA) vs Dan Ward 0-4 (Spero’s MMA)

The first mma fight of the night is Alex Sinprasith against Dan Ward at 145 lbs amateur.  Alex trains with Crowsnest MMA and comes into this fight with a 5-12 record.  Alex has many submission wins in his amateur career and he lost fights by submission and decisions.  His opponent is Dan Ward and he trains with Spero's MMA.  He comes into this fight with an 0-4 record with 1 loss by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 2 by decision.  This is a great first mma fight for the night as I see it being a stand up battle.

135 AM MMA Leo Gomez 0-0 (Gladiator BJJ) vs Brendan Marotte 0-0 (Spero’s MMA)

Next fight is at 135 lbs between Leo Gomez and Brendan Marotte.  Leo trains with Gladiator BJJ in western mass and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Brendan Marotte and he trains with Spero's MMA.  He will also be making his amateur debut.  Due to both of these fighters being new we don't know what to expect and that makes it exciting.

170 AM MMA Gerald Meuse 3-0 (Sityodtong) vs John McAndrews 3-1 (Gate City)

Then at 170 lbs Gerald Meuse will take on John McAndrews.  Meuse trains out of Sityodtong and comes into this fight with a 3-0 record. I wasn't able to find all of his info but he has 1 win by ko/tko and 1 by submission to strikes so Gerald has some heavy hands.  His opponent is John McAndrews and he trains out of Gate City MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 3-1 record with 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by submission.
His one loss came by a decision to Sean Evans.  As you can see their records are basically identical and both hit hard so this should be an awesome battle.

155 AM MMA CJ Kevlin 1-2 (LRVT) vs Brian Cosco 2-3 (Ironhouse/SYT)

At 155 lbs CJ Kevlin will face off against Brian Cosco this Friday at Combat Zone.  Kevlin trains with LRVT and comes into this fight with a 1-2 record.  He has his one win against LJ Scarcella by unanimous decision.  For his two losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and one by decision.  His opponent is Brian Cosco and he trains with Ironhouse/SYT.  He comes into this fight with a 2-3 record with his 2 wins by submission.  For his losses, he lost 2 by submission and 1 by decision.  Both of these guys are looking to get their record to .500.  Which one will be successful?

155 AM MMA Dylan Lockard 3-0 (PMA) vs Chris Mehu 3-1 (Gate City)

Next up is at 155 lbs Dylan Lockard squares off against Chris Mehu in a showdown that is sure to get everyone's attention.  Lockard trains with PMA and comes into this fight with a perfect 3-0 record.  He has 1 win by submission and 2 wins by submission so far in his amateur career.  Mehu trains with Gate City and he comes into this fight with a 3-1 record with 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  His only loss came by a decision to Bobby Gasdia at a previous Cage Titans event.  Both of these fighters are looking to move up the ranks in their division and this fight will help them do just that.  Mehu has the advantage on his feet in this fight and Lockard has the advantage on the ground.

185 PRO MMA Ralph Johnson 9-16 (FAF) vs Tim Caron 2-0 (Burgess MMA)

The first pro fight of the night is between Ralph Johnson and Tim Caron.  Johnson trains with FAF and comes into this fight with a 9-16 record.  All of his wins came by way of knockout and he would love to add one more to that win column.  He trains with FAF and his losses were all mostly lost by submission.  His opponent is Tim Caron and he trains with Burgess MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 1 submission and 1 ko/tko win.  If this fight is standing then Ralph has the ability to stun his opponents with his long reach and get a knockout due to people underestimating him.  Most people who fight Ralph don't want the hands and take the fight to the ground and in that case Caron would win this fight for sure.

155 PRO MMA Lewis Corapi 6-2 (Sityodtong) vs Jeff Anderson 10-10 (IND)

The second pro fight is between Lewis Corapi and Jeff Anderson at 155 lbs.  Corapi trains with Sityodtong and comes into this fight with a 6-2 record.  For his wins, he has 3 wins by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 2 by decision so far in his pro career.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  His opponent is Jeff Anderson and he comes into this fight with a 10-10 record.  He is an independent fighter and has struggled with 6 straight losses.  The majority of Jeff's wins were by decision.  I see Corapi winning this fight pretty easily in the first round by ko/tko to strikes.

155 AM TITLE MMA Vince Ciotoli 5-3 (Crowsnest MMA) vs Shawn Melanson 2-0 (Gate City)

In the co main event Vince Ciotoli will fight Shawn Melanson for the 155 amateur title.  Ciotoli trains with Crowsnest MMA and comes into this fight with a 5-3 record.  Out of his 5 wins he has 3 by ko/tko and 2 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 2 by submission and 1 by decision. It looks like has fought mostly in New York so I am anxious to see how he matches up with the guys who fight around here.  His opponent is Shawn Melanson who trains out of Gate City MMA.  He comes into this fight with a perfect 2-0 record with 2 very quick wins by submission.  This is Melanson's toughest fight to date and I think it will be an awesome battle.

135 AM MMA Danny Abad 4-3 (Jackson’s MMA) vs Michael Scappichio 4-0 (Spero’s MMA)

At the time of writing this after the weigh ins this fight is no longer a fight for the title due to Abad missing weight so now it is a 3 round fight.  However the fight is Combat Zone Danny Abad (the current 145lb champ) fighting Michael Scappichio (the 135 lb champ).  Abad trains with Jackson's MMA and comes into this fight with a 4-3 record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko, 2 by submission and 1 decision victory.  For his losses, he lost them all by decision so he has never been finished.  His opponent is Michael Scappichio and he trains with Spero's MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 4-0 record with all 4 wins by submission.  This fight is going to be an awesome battle and definitely has fight of the night written all over it.

There you have the breakdown of the upcoming Combat Zone show that is happening to night in Salem New Hampshire at the Rockingham Park.  Don't wait until the last minute because this show usually sells out and you don't want to be turned away at the door.  Combat Zone consistently puts on solid shows and that is why the fight fans keep returning.  Special thanks to CZ for keeping us in the loop on the fight cards so we can share with you all.  Hope to see you all there and stay right here as we get you closer to the cage.
