NEF 20 TEASER 11/21/2015

New England Fights returns this Saturday with their 20th event and they are looking to make history.  This event is a hybrid event which has boxing and mma fights.  The boxing ring and the mma cage will set up in the center of the arena while all the fight fans will be gathered around drooling over the action.  There are 21 mixed martial arts fights and 4 boxing matches on the night.  5 of the 21 fights will be professional mma fights and there will be 3 title fights on the card.  Also a much talked about fight between Erin Lamonte and Randi Beth Boyington is sure to be another highlight of the night.  There is very limited seating left at the link here.  Do not wait until the last minute cause tickets are real close to selling out.  The doors will be opening at 6:00 PM and the first fight is set to start at 7:00 PM.  Due to having to write two previews this week I will not be writing about the boxing portion but that part of the card is still listed below at the end for your viewing pleasure.  Keep in mind this will not be the final fight order as that is subject to change.

155 AM Matt Hanning 1-1 (Independent) vs Levi Sewall 0-0 (Young’s)

At 155 lbs Matt Hanning will square off against Levi Sewall.  Hanning is an independent fighter with a 1-1 record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko and 1 loss by ko/tko.  His opponent is Levi Sewall and he trains with Young's MMA.  He will be making his amateur debut and being from Young's we know he will be well prepared.  This should be another good battle.

170 AM Caleb Swoveland 0-0 (Ruthless) vs Taylor Carey 0-0 (Berserkers)

At 170 lbs Caleb Swoveland will take on Taylor Carey.  Swoveland trains with Team Ruthless and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Taylor Carey and he trains with Berserkers and will also be making his amateur debut.  Two new fighters making their debut so we will have to wait and see how this one plays out.

265 AM Bryce Bamford 0-0 (First Class) vs Bryce Locke 0-0 (Ind.)

In a heavyweight fight Bryce Bamford will take on Bryce Locke.  Bamford trains with First Class MMA and he will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Bryce Lock and he is an independent fighter who will also be making his amateur debut.  When the heavyweights to battle there is always a good chance for a knockout!  This one is sure to get the crowd cheering.

185 AM Ruben Redman 1-3 (Mass Effect) vs Caleb Farrington 2-0 (NEU)

At 185 Ruben Redman will square off against Caleb Farrington.  Redman trains with Mass Effect and comes into this fight with a 1-3 record.  He won his sole win by submission to strikes against  Heath Hanson at NEF 18.  For his losses, he lost 3 by decision so he has no problem in going the distance.  His opponent is Caleb Farrington and he trains with NEU.  Caleb comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 1 win by ko/tko and 1 win by submission.  Both of these fighters have been known to slug it out and I hope they will continue that trend with a stand up battle in this one.

120 AM Erin LaMonte 4-0 (Gracie) vs Randi Beth Boyington 1-1 (Boyington’s)

At 120 lbs Erin Lamonte makes her much awaited return to the cage against Randi Beth Boyington.  Erin trains with Gracie and comes into this fight with an undefeated record of 4-0.  She has wins by ko/tko, submission and decisions so far in her career.  She took a brief hiatus and got married and had a beautiful baby boy.  Now she is anxious to get back to fighting and start taking names.  Her opponent is Randi Beth Boyington, who is of course the wife of Bruce Boyington.  She trains with Boyington's gym and comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  She won her first battle by decision against Alex Walker and many fans thought it was fight of the night at that event.  She then fought at Cage Titans a week later and lost by submission against Danielle Hindley at a previous Cage Titans event.  Both of these ladies have trained hard for this fight and are going to put on a great show for the fans.

140 AM David Thompson 0-1(Shatterproof) vs Richmond Pierce Wiegman 0-0

Then David Thompson will face off against Richmond Pierce Wiegman at a catch weight of 140 lbs.  Thompson trains with Team Shatterproof and he comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight by submission to Jason Lachance at the last NEF event.  He is still looking for his first mma win.  His opponent is Richmond Pierce Wiegman and he will be making his amateur debut.  Again, another close fight for NEF which will make for another good battle.

155 AM Ricky Dexter 3-2 (Team Irish) vs Steve Bang 3-3 (CMBJJ)

Next up is at 155 lbs Ricky Dexter will square off against Steve Bang.  Dexter trains with Team Irish and comes into this fight with a 3-2 record.  For his wins, he has 2 by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  For his losses, he has 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  His opponent is Steve Bang and he trains with CMBJJ.  He comes into this fight with a 3-3 record with 2 wins by submission and 1 by decision.  For his losses, he has lost 1 by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 1 by decision.  On paper both fighters records are almost identical and I see this one coming down to a decision.

200 AM Anthony Spires 0-0 (Independent) vs Victor Irwin 0-0 (Young’s)

At 200 lbs Anthony Spires takes on Victor Irwin.  Spires is an independent fighter who will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Victor Irwin and he trains with Young's MMA.  He will also be making his amateur debut and being from Young's MMA we know he will be ready.

225 AM Joe Krech 0-0 (Independent) vs Mike Williams 0-0 (CMBJJ)

Next up is Joe Krech taking on Mike Williams at 225 amateur.  Krech is an independent fighter who will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Mike Williams and he trains with CMBJJ.  He will also be making his amateur debut this Saturday.  Lots of new fighters on this card looking to start out their mma career.

145 AM Caleb Hall 5-3 (Choi) vs Matt Tamayo 0-0 (F2 Arena)

At 145 lbs Caleb Hall steps into the NEF cage against Matt Tamayo.  Hall trains with Choi's and comes into this fight with a 5-3 record.  He has 3 wins by ko/tko and 2 by submission so far in his amateur career.  For his losses, he has 1 by ko/tko, 1 by submission and one by split decision.  His opponent is Matt Tamayo and he trains with F2 Arena.  He will be making his amateur debut.  I am not sure if Caleb's opponent dropped out last minute but I see this one as a mismatch with Hall having 8 fights already.  F2 Arena is a good team but I see Caleb winning this one easily.

S.HWT AM Nick Gulliver 1-0 (First Class) vs Jason Field 0-1 (Ind.)

In a super heavy weight battle Nick Gulliver will face off against Jason Field.  Gulliver trains with First Class and he comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He won his first battle against Ora Spratt by submission in Rd 1 back at NEF 18.  He would love another submission victory this Saturday.  His opponent is Jason Field who is an independent fighter with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight against Ryan Glover by tko to strikes early in Rd 1 at the last NEF show.  You know what they say, the bigger they are the harder they fall.  Don't blink on this one.

155 AM CJ Ewer 4-2 (Young’s) vs Jason Lachance 2-2 (MMA Athletix)

At 155 lbs CJ Ewer will take on Jason Lachance.  Ewer trains out of Young's MMA and comes into this fight with a 4-2 record.  He has 1 ko/tko, 1 sub and 2 decisions so far in his career.  His two losses were by way of submission.  His opponent is Jason Lachance and he trains with MMA Athletix.  Jason comes intot his fight with a 2-2 record with 1 sub win and 1 decision win.  For his losses, he lost 1 by decision and 1 by submission.  Lachance likes a challenge and this should be a good one for him.  I see this one being a good ground battle.

155 AM Rafael Velado 1-0 (First Class) vs Ken Dunn 0-2 (MKK)

At 155 lbs Rafael Valada will face off against Ken Dunn.  Velado trains with First Class MMA and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  His first win came by first round submission against Corey Trial at the last NEF event.  His opponent is Ken Dunn and he trains with MKK.  He comes into this fight with an 0-2 record with both losses by ko/tko to strikes.  Velado looked great his first fight and Dunn is going to have to fight hard in the cage if he wants to bring home the W.

125 AM Justin Witham 0-3 (Shatterproof) vs Brent Ouellette 0-0 (CMBJJ)

Next up is at 125 lbs Justin Witham takes on Brent Ouellette.  Witham trains with Team Shatterproof and comes into this fight with an 0-3 record.  He has fought all of his fights for NEF and has lost 2 by submission and 1 by decision.  He is still hungry for his first taste of mma victory and he is looking to get that this Saturday.  His opponent is Brent Ouellette and he trains with CMBJJ.  He will be making his amateur debut this Saturday at NEF.  As you can see both fighters are looking for their first W and it will be fun to see it in action.

145 AM TITLE Aaron Lacey 5-1 (Young’s) vs Caleb Horner 6-2 (F2 Arena)

The 145 amateur title is up for grabs as Aaron Lacey will take on Caleb Horner.  Lacey trains out of Young's MMA and comes into this fight with a 5-1 record.  For his wins he has 1 by ko/tko, 3 by submission and 1 by decision so far in his amateur career.  His only loss is a decision loss to Matt Tullos back at a Combat Zone event.  He is well trained and ready to take home the vacant NEF title.  His opponent is Caleb Horner and he trains with F2 Arena.  Caleb comes into this fight with a 6-2 record with wins by submission and decisions.  I wasn't able to find all of his fight info as he fights in Florida a lot but he has one loss by decision.  This should be a great battle and remember it is a 5 round fight due to being a title so anything can happen!

125 AM TITLE Dustin Veinott 4-3 (CMBJJ) vs Ryan Burgess 1-0 (Berserk)

In the second amateur NEF title fight Dustin Veinott defends his title against Ryan Burgess.  Veinott fights out of CMBJJ and comes into this fight with a 4-3 record.  Dustin is riding a 4 fight win streak with 1 ko/tko, 2 submissions and 1 split win in that streak.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 1 by sub and 1 by decision.  His opponent is Ryan Burgess and he trains with team Berserkers.  He comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with his one win by decision.  With the 125 lb division being slim this should be another good battle for NEF.

145 PRO Derek Shorey 3-2 (Shatterproof) vs Damon Owens 2-0 (Young’s)

In the first pro fight of the night Derek Shorey will face Damon Owens at 145 lbs.  Shorey trains with Team Shatterproof and comes into this fight with a 3-2 record.  For his wins, he has 2 wins by ko/tko and 1 by submission so far in his pro career.  He is hot off a spectacular knockout against Tollison Lewis.  For his 2 losses, he lost 1 by submission and 1 by ko/tko.  His opponent is Damon Owens and he trains out of Young's MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 1 win by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  This is going to be an awesome battle as I see both fighters showing off their striking skills.

205 PRO Matt Andrikut 1-0 (Conviction MMA) vs Jesse Baughman 0-0 (Link)

Next up is at 205 lbs Matt Andrikut will take on Jesse Baughman.  Andrikut trains with Conviction MMA and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He has his one win by ko/tko over Artie Mullen at the last NEF event.  His opponent is Jesse Baughman and he trains out of team Link.  He will be making his pro debut but as an amateur he went 5-0 with all 5 wins by ko/tko.  This is a good challenge for both fighters and I am anxious to see how they both match up when they go head to head.

170 PRO Crowsneck Boutin 1-1 (Choi) vs Matt Bordonaro 2-0 (Victory)

At 170 lbs Crowsneck Boutin gets his rematch with Matt Bordonaro.  Boutin trains with 1-1 and is out of Choi's.  He has 1 win by decision and one loss by submission.  They both fought back as an amateur and Bordonaro ended up by submission.  Matt trains with Team Victory out of New York and comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 2 wins by split decision.  Both fighters are anxious to show off how much they have improved since their last meeting at NEF 9 and I feel it will be a stand up battle.

150 PRO Jon Lemke 4-3 (Team Irish) vs Matt Denning 2-0 (CMBJJ)

The co main event is at 155 lbs between Jon Lemke and Matt Denning.  Lemke trains with Team Irish and comes into this fight with a 4-3 record.  He has 3 wins by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  For his losses, he lost his 3 fights by way of submission.  Lemke trains hard and always leaves it all in the cage.  His opponent is Matt Denning and he trains with CMBJJ.  Denning comes into this fight with  a 2-0 record.  He trains out of CMBJJ and has both of his wins by submission.  I feel Lemke has the advantage on the feet with the striking and Denning has advantage of the fight being on the ground.

155 PRO TITLE Bruce Boyington 11-8 (c) vs Jimmy Davidson 7-1 (Sity)

The main event has Bruce Boyington defending his title against Jimmy Davidson at 155 lbs professional.  Boyington comes into this fight with an 11-8 record with 6 wins by ko/tko, 2 wins by sub and 3 wins by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and 7 by way of submission.  He is fresh off a big victory against Rodreigo Almeida at the WSOF show.  He will be looking to carry that momentum into this fight.  His opponent is Jimmy Davidson and he trains with Sityodtong.  He comes into this fight with a 7-1 record with 4 wins by ko/tko and 3 wins by submission.  He lost his last fight against Leon Davis at a previous CES show and he is looking to get back to his winning ways and bring home that title to Boston.  I think this fight is going to be a battle for takedowns and ground game.  I can see it going deep into the rounds as well and should be an awesome fight.

Here are the 4 boxing fights that will also be taking place in between the mma fights thoughout the night.

140 PRO BOXING Brandon Berry 9-1 (West Forks) vs Roberto Valenzuela 73-69-2
155 PRO BOXING Tollison Lewis 1-0 (CMBJJ) vs Zenon Herrera 0-0 (Independent)
135 PRO BOXING Josh Parker 0-1 (Ruthless) vs Elias Leland 0-0 (AMMA)
118 PRO BOXING Ernesto Ornelas 0-0 (Choi) vs Brandon Ali Garvin 0-4 (Frazier's)

There you have the complete breakdown of the NEF card (minus the boxing).  It is going to be a memorable night and make history as NEF bring a hybrid show of boxing and mma all in one night.  NEF will also be debuting a new ring girl, a gorgeous blonde that you do not want to miss.  NEF is looking to close the year out with a bang and it looks like they got the ground work to make it a good one.  As always, thanks for reading and thanks to NEF for providing us with the up to date fight cards.  Hope to see you all there.
