πŸ“° NEWS--πŸ“° A BATTLE OF UNDEFEATEDS AT NEF 48 IN PORTLAND

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (June 29, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional lightweight bout to the card.  Nathaniel Grimard (2-0) is scheduled to meet Jake Hixenbaugh (1-0) at a weight of 155 pounds.

Undefeated Nathaniel Grimard is a former NEF Amateur Featherweight Champion, having won the belt at “NEF 44” last summer.  He put together a stellar record of 4-1 as an amateur and stayed active during the COVID-19 pandemic by traveling to the open state of Florida to fight while the northeast remained closed.  Grimard made his pro debut earlier this year at “NEF 46” with a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Vasta (1-1).  He followed up that win with another unanimous decision over Andrew Provost (1-1) last month at “NEF 47.”  Grimard represents Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).  The fight with Hixenbaugh will be Grimard’s first at lightweight since his amateur debut.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to challenge myself again by moving up a weight class to take on another up and comer like myself,” said Grimard. “We have only been taking tough fights, and on July 30th I look forward to showing my evolved skill set.”

Jake Hixenbaugh comes to NEF from Bergen, New York.  He has competed in MMA since 2017 and put together an amateur record of 3-5.  Hixenbaugh made his professional debut earlier this month on a fight card in Rhode Island with a submission victory over Bruce Richards (0-4).  He currently represents Bohn’s MMA of Le Roy, New York.

“Going into enemy territory against a game opponent will be a fun experience,” said Hixenbaugh.  “I can't wait to give that crowd a fight that they won't want to miss."

“NEF 48: Heatwave” takes place on July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.NewEnglandFights.com/Tickets/.  The event will be the promotion’s first in the outdoors since 2013.
