πŸ“° NEWS--πŸ“° WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE DECIDED AT NEF 48

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (June 25, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur welterweight title bout to the card.  Curtis Ouellette (3-3) will face Kyle Hill (2-0) at a weight of 170 pounds for the vacant strap.

Curtis Ouellette is riding a two-fight win streak on his way to the title fight at “NEF 48.”  He started 2022 with a bang at “NEF 46” when he defeated Christopher Smith (0-1) by third-round technical knockout (TKO) in February.  He continued his winning ways last month at “NEF 47” with another TKO victory over George Demers (1-3).  Ouellette represents Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) based in Lewiston, Maine.

“I’m wicked excited to fight for a title,” said Ouellette. “I'd like to thank Matt (Peterson, NEF co-owner), Nick (DiSalvo, NEF co-owner), and all of NEF for the opportunity to compete. This will be my fifth NEF event in the past year and it shows that fighting this often was the correct decision. I don't know much about my opponent but as always fight fans can expect an exciting fight with fireworks. I'm not coming into the cage looking for a decision. I'm gonna be looking for a finish all fight and I hope my opponent brings the same fire.”

Undefeated Kyle Hill has won two fights in a row to start his amateur MMA career.  He made his debut on a fight card in Florida in February 2021 with a win by split decision.  Last October, Hill submitted Evan Aubry (1-3) in the first round on a card in New Hampshire.  Hill is a member of Nostos MMA in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).

“I’m looking forward to showing all of the aspects of my game, whether that be on the feet, on the ground, or in between,” stated Hill.  “The Nostos crew has a lot of killers, and I’m excited to show off how hard we’ve been working. It’s Nostos versus everybody.”

“NEF 48: Heatwave” takes place on July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.NewEnglandFights.com/Tickets/.  The event will be the promotion’s first in the outdoors since 2013.
