📰 NEWS--📰 BALTAZAR AND SANFORD SET TO LOCK HORNS AT NEF 48

 [NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (July 5, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur bantamweight bout to the card.  Key Baltazar (1-0) is scheduled to face Hannon Sanford (0-2) at a weight of 135 pounds.

Key Baltazar made his amateur debut earlier this year at “NEF 46” in Portland.  That evening he submitted Quinn Poirier (0-1) with a rear-naked choke in the second round.  Baltazar comes from a wrestling background in his native Florida.  He currently represents Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).

“They say pressure makes diamonds and I’m ready to shine,” said Baltazar. “Expect a dominant victory.”

Hannon Sanford will be looking for the first victory of his amateur career at “NEF 48.”  He made his debut at “NEF 42” in February 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic brought a halt to fight sports in much of the country.  Sanford lost that night by unanimous decision to Felipe Günter (4-2).  He would return on NEF’s first card after the pandemic with a first-round loss to Richard Martel in Milford, New Hampshire in the summer of 2021.  Sanford represents Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) of Lewiston, Maine.

“When it comes to Key, I've watched him fight and even briefly told him I think he's an absolute killer,” stated Sanford.  “That being said, I train with the best New England has to offer. Between my partners and coaches at CMBJJ and Young’s MMA, I really feel I've not been able to show the skill set I've been developing to any meaningful extent yet. He's going to be fast, technical and it's going to be an awesome fight of the night. I'm excited to get back out there and because the cage will be outside, it's definitely going to be a hot one, but at the end of the day a cage is a cage and we're just going to go out there and see who or what breaks first.”

“NEF 48: Heatwave” takes place on July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine.  Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.NewEnglandFights.com/Tickets/.  The event will be the promotion’s first in the outdoors since 2013.
