Portland, Maine (July 14, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur catchweight bout to the card. Nate Dorr will take on Clifford Redman at a fight weight of 140 pounds.
Nate Dorr (1-0) will look to continue his winning ways in his sophomore fight. He made his cage debut last May at “NEF 47” in Auburn, Maine with a win over a more experienced Tyler Parent (1-2). Dorr used both his striking and jiu-jitsu skills on his way to a unanimous decision victory that night. He represents Acadia Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu based in Ellsworth, Maine. Dorr hopes for the first finish of his amateur MMA career in the fight with Redman.
“I'm really looking to showcase my kickboxing this fight,” noted Dorr. Last fight showed me my weak points in my stand up and I've since been extremely focused on improving there. Planning to get a finish this fight, and to do it while standing.”
Clifford “Frodo” Redman is a veteran of twelve previous fights in the NEF cage dating back to 2015. And while Redman might not have found much success in the hexagon during that time, he has become known for his fighting spirit and heart amongst both fans and peers. The fight will be his return to the cage since a loss to Tyler Smythe (5-2) at “NEF 42” prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Redman says this will more than likely be his final amateur fight.
“I’m excited to be getting back into the cage after not fighting the last three years and for what is most likely my last amateur fight,” said Redman. “I'm thankful to NEF for allowing me to continue doing what I enjoy.”
