๐Ÿ“ฐ NEWS--๐Ÿ“ฐ MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT ADDED TO NEF 49 FIGHT CARD

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (September 2, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to Bangor, Maine on Friday, September 9, 2022, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 49: Queen City Showdown.”  It will be NEF’s first event in Bangor in more than three years.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur middleweight bout to the card.  Brett Martin (2-0) will face Brandon Oldenburg (0-1) at a fight weight of 185 pounds.

Undefeated Brett Martin will look to extend his win streak to start his amateur career.  He won his amateur debut at “NEF 45” last November over Justin Philbrook (1-3) when Philbrook did not answer the bell for the second round.  Martin followed up that victory with a unanimous decision win over Curt Benoit (0-2) last spring on a fight card in New Hampshire.  He currently represents First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine.

“I’m very excited to get back in the cage against a game opponent like Brandon,” said Martin. “He’s a respectful guy from a solid gym at Vision Quest under Primo Bellarosa. I know he’s hungry to bounce back after his previous bout and has been training hard. I’m looking to go in and show I have developed all facets of my game and am bringing an increased comfort to the cage.”

Brandon Oldenburg will look for the first win of his amateur career at “NEF 49.”  Like Martin, Oldenburg made his debut last November at “NEF 45.”  Oldenburg lost that evening in the first round via technical knockout to Bryant Wade (1-1).  Many observers felt the fight was stopped early by the referee.  Oldenburg is champing at the bit to get back in the cage and test his skills.  He represents Vision Quest Muay Thai based in Newport, Maine.

“I’m excited to step back in the cage,” exclaimed Oldenburg. “I’ve had a rough couple goes at it with my first opponent backing out last year then what I felt was an unfortunate early stoppage against Wade, but this time I want to come out and put on a good show against a great competitor in Brett Martin! I’m just beyond excited and grateful to have this opportunity and look forward to throwing hands so close to my home town!”

“NEF 49: Queen City Showdown” is set for Friday, September 9 and will be the organization’s long-awaited return to Bangor, Maine. For more information, go to NewEnglandFights.com.  Tickets are available now at TicketMaster.com.
