[NEF PRESS RELEASE]
Bangor, Maine (January 5, 2023) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine on February 11, 2023, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 51: Banger in Bangor.” Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional featherweight bout to the card. Nathaniel Grimard (2-2) is scheduled to face Carl Langston (2-7) at a fight weight of 145 pounds.
Nathaniel Grimard turned pro in 2022 after a successful amateur career that saw him go 4-1 and capture the NEF Amateur Featherweight Title. He won his first two professional bouts via unanimous decision over Anthony Vasta (1-3) and Andrew Provost (1-1) respectively. Grimard then lost his next two in a row by first-round submission to close out the calendar year. He will be looking to start 2023 off like he did 2022 – in the win column. Grimard represents Nostos MMA based in Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC veteran and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion Devin Powell (10-5).
“I’m excited to be back fighting for NEF and to have the opportunity to start the year off with a bang,” said Grimard. “I have nothing but respect for Carl, but I plan on this being my most dominant performance yet. I’m coming to show him and everybody else how hard Nostos MMA works.”
For Carl Langston 2022 was his best year thus far as a professional. He kicked off the year with an upset victory by submission over Zac Richard (1-2) in a rematch of their “NEF 45” bout which Langston lost. He would go on to defeat Zenon Herrera (1-9) by unanimous decision at “NEF 47” last spring. In his most recent outing Langston suffered a submission loss to Matt Denning (8-16) at “NEF 50” last November. He predicts he will get back on the winning track in the upcoming fight with Grimard.
“This is really my time to show I have a ground game,” said Langston. “I feel like I have finally got it down now after this last loss. I went 2-1 last year and it’s just been nothing but everyone trying to take me down. Nate is a great fighter but he can’t show me anything I haven’t seen. The pressure he has going into this fight and the pressure I’m going to bring, he’s going to fold.”
“NEF 51: Banger in Bangor” is scheduled for Saturday night, February 11, 2023, at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Tickets are available now at www.TicketMaster.com.
