Auburn, Maine (April 23, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 47: The Battle of L/A” on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional catchweight bout to the card. Nathaniel Grimard (1-0) is scheduled to face Andrew Provost (1-0) at a fight weight of 150 pounds.
Nathaniel Grimard made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at “NEF 46” with a unanimous decision victory over Anthony Vasta (0-1). It was the follow up to a very successful amateur career that saw Grimard amass a record of 4-1 and capture the NEF Amateur Featherweight Title. Grimard represents Nostos MMA of Somersworth, New Hampshire where he trains under UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).
“I’m excited that this fight is another chance to test my skills against a very game and experienced opponent,” said Grimard. “Each fight I continue to improve my skills and become a better version of myself. On May 14, I look forward to showing everyone what I’m capable of at this level.”
Like his opponent, Andrew Provost made his professional MMA debut with a victory by unanimous decision in September 2021. Before that time, Provost had an extensive amateur career on the New England circuit, competing since 2010. He holds a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and trains out of Robert Hugus BJJ in Plattsburgh, New York.
“I’m excited to come to Maine and fight for NEF,” stated Provost. “I don’t know much about Grimard, but he is a very tough opponent. I'm just excited to represent my team, my instructor and everyone at our school.”
“NEF 47: The Battle of L/A” takes place on May 14, 2022, at the Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn, Maine. Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.NewEnglandFights.com/Tickets/. The event will be the promotion’s first in Lewiston-Auburn since June 2019.
