🚨BREAKING--🚨 VASTA RETURNS TO MAINE TO TAKE ON DEPPMEYER AT NEF 49

 [NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (September 4, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to Bangor, Maine on Friday, September 9, 2022, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 49: Queen City Showdown.”  It will be NEF’s first event in Bangor in more than three years.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional lightweight bout to the card.  Jacob Deppmeyer (2-0) is scheduled to meet Anthony Vasta (1-2) at a fight weight of 155 pounds.

Deppmeyer has competed in the sport since 2017 and all six of his previous fights have been in the NEF cage.  He is undefeated since entering the professional ranks in early 2020.  He downed longtime veteran Carl Langston (2-6) via first-round technical knockout in his pro debut at “NEF 42” in Portland, Maine.  Post-pandemic, Deppmeyer returned to the cage in August 2021 at “NEF 44” in New Hampshire with yet another first-round technical knockout victory, this time over Aaron Hughes (1-3).  He currently represents First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine.

“This has been a pretty wild fight camp,” noted Deppmeyer. “A lot of people have been involved, a lot of really good friends and teams mates that  I’m blessed to have. It’s crazy the things you can learn and I give thanks for those who I learn from and the people who continue to push me. I know that both my opponent and I train to win, but what are you fighting for?!”

Anthony Vasta made his pro debut with NEF earlier this year at “NEF 46” with a loss to Nathaniel Grimard (2-1) by unanimous decision.  He would return at “NEF 47” last spring with a win via submission over Aaron Hughes in the second round.  Earlier this summer, Vasta traveled to Orlando, Florida for his third professional fight and lost by submission to undefeated Juan Rodriguez (3-0).  He will look to get back on the winner track in his upcoming fight with Deppmeyer.  Vasta represents Defensive Edge MMA based in Wakefield, Massachusetts.

“I’m pumped to be back in Maine against another tough opponent in Jake,” said Vasta. “It should be a great fight for the fans to watch and I’m excited to show some more layers of my always evolving skillset. I’m ready for a scrap. Let’s go!”

“NEF 49: Queen City Showdown” is set for Friday, September 9 and will be the organization’s long-awaited return to Bangor, Maine. For more information, go to NewEnglandFights.com.  Tickets are available now at TicketMaster.com.
