Jordan “Iron Man” Mitchell has reached the crossroads in his mixed martial arts career at which he recognizes a trail of missed opportunities in the rear-view mirror but sees enough open highway through the windshield to still reach his professional goals.
With those aspirations on his mind and heart, the journeyman from Indianapolis will travel to a place whose aesthetic charms have always captivated him and stand toe-to-toe in the New England Fights hexagon with a certain 6-foot-6, 245-pound roadblock known as Ras “RasquatchThe Jamaican Shamrock” Hylton.
“I heard about it the other day, and I was pretty excited,” Mitchell said in an interview with Ryan Jarrell on Between Rounds Radio. “I’ve seen Ras before. I’ve watched a couple of his fights. I’ve said his name to a couple of promoters, but they never got in contact with me, so I’ve been looking forward to fighting him for a while.”
Mitchell (10-16) vs. Hylton (8-6) will be the co-main event at NEF 50, slated for Saturday, November 12 at Aura in Portland, Maine.

Portland, Maine (October 7, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to Aura in Portland, Maine on Saturday, November 12, 2022, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 50.” Earlier today the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional heavyweight bout to the card. “The Jamaican Shamrock” Ras “Rasquatch” Hylton (8-6) is scheduled to face Jordan Mitchell (10-16) in the evening’s co-main event.
Ras Hylton is coming off one of the biggest wins of his career over Cody Lightfoot (6-6) last summer at “NEF 48.” It took Hylton a mere 13 seconds to knockout Lightfoot in the first round. It was his second win in a row and also his second finish in a row. The fight with Mitchell will be Hylton’s first at Aura since he turned Charles Penn, Jr. (0-1) into a bloody mess at “NEF 38” in the spring of 2019. Hylton is a second-degree black belt in Shotokan karate and a two-fight veteran of the Bellator cage. He currently represents Dragon Fire Martial Arts in Portland and American Top Team of Tampa, Florida.
“Glad to welcome another challenger to Vacationland,” exclaimed Hylton. “Don't worry, I see Jordan's a dangerous opponent not to be taken lightly; there's just no world where I let anyone beat me at home again. When New England Fights hits the seacoast that is home to both Ras Hylton and Cody Lightfoot, there is no question that their feature professional heavyweight bout at NEF 48: “Heatwave” will be a clash of styles. For his part, Hylton also hopes it illuminates a stark contrast in recent activity levels and diversity of training partners.
While Lightfoot stepped away from mixed martial arts for nine years before reuniting with Devin Powell at Nostos MMA for what he has billed as his farewell fight, Hylton has performed under one of the most ballyhooed banners in the world while ascending into the ranks of the top 100 mixed martial artists on the planet in his weight class.
Since the pandemic sent all of us to a neutral corner nearly 29 months ago, Hylton has entered the cage five times, including twice with Bellator MMA. He has trained in Florida with American Top Team, one of the most respected stables in the sport. With the Lightfoot bout looming, “The Jamaican Shamrock” has enlisted former opponents Chris Sarro, Yorgan De Castro and Domingos Barros as training partners.

Portland, Maine (May 16, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional heavyweight bout to the card. “The Jamaican Shamrock” Ras “Rasquatch” Hylton (7-6) is scheduled to face Cody Lightfoot (6-5).
6’6” Ras Hylton last competed for the promotion at “NEF 42” in February 2020, with a second-round technical knockout of Brad Lee (0-1). Hylton has established himself as a local favorite on Maine cards with his unique style and his background as a second-degree black belt in Shotokan karate. He has competed at the global level in the Bellator MMA cage on two separate occasions. Most recently, Hylton was victorious via second-round technical knockout on a card in Utah last month. He currently represents First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine and Dragon Fire Martial Arts in Portland.
“It’s been over two years since I have had the opportunity to fight in Maine,” noted Hylton. “I’ve done a lot of traveling to some great places with a lot of great people, but there is nothing as exhilarating as throwing down in your own backyard. It’s good to be home, and I can’t wait to see all of you.”
