CES Far Beyond Driven 8/3/2012 Full Teaser

[Update]  We will be adding the Theo Desjardin vs. Billy Giovanella and Greg Rebello vs. Carlos Cline into this teaser later today

~Teaser is written by Michael Strazzere

I am writing this review to help out a great group of guys at Westernmassmma.com led by Travis "CityBoy" Sinclair. Travis' father recently passed and it is an honor to be able to help out this site through these tough times. Travis has done so much for our team and more importantly local MMA in general. Stay strong Travis, we are all here for you!

CES has put togeter another solid card, top to bottom, culminating in arguably (or not) the northeast lb for lb best fighter fighting on the regional scene right now, John "Doomsday" Howard!

185 Dave Maggiore (Debut White Water) vs Hector Sanchez (0-3 Elite Martial Arts)

It is very rare that I have to google guys but I will be right back with info on this fight. The only thing known about Hector is he gets beat by older fighters, often! He is fighting Aug 3rd and aug 11th? I won't even get into that! So onto Dave Maggiore...Dave is the trainer of the late Doug Bolanes and wll be fighting in his pro debut. Expect an emotional beating to be dished out by Dave!

135 Dinis Piava Jr. (1-3 Keith Allen) vs Gilvan Santos (1-3 Dragon's Lair)

Dinis had a nice ammy career and so far a decent pro career. He is one of those guys that you can see has a ton of talent but has taken some tough fights and got some bad breaks. Dinis has a good wrestling base but also has a nice standup game and trains with alot of great people in Rhode Island, He seems poised to be able to go on a nice run in mma at any time. In his way, will be Gilvan Santos, who also is better than his record of 1-3 suggests. He gave rising star Andre Soukhamthath all he could handle before being submitted, then came back and gave another future star, Billy Giovanella all he could handle. Both guys can bang but Dinis should have a slight edge on the ground but only time will tell. This should be a competitive fight!

155 Joe Pingitore ( 1-0 Rukus) vs Ahsan Abdullah (Debut Bombsquad)

"Lights Out" Pingitore is coming off an impressive debut win at CES and brings to the cage, heavy hands and a solid ground game. He started as a wrestler but has developed into a very heavy handed striker, who brings alot of action to the cage everytime he fights. He will be opposite the pro debuting Ahsan Abdullah out of the vaunted Bombsquad. Ahsan brings all the tools to the cage and is definitely not an easy fight for the young local star. This one is a very even matchup with whomever bringing the better gameplan and being able to stick with it most likely getting the nod. This should be a very exciting fight!
135  Billy Giovanella (1-0 Connors) vs Theo Desjardins (4-4??? TUML)
Billy "The Wolverine" Giovanella will return to where he made his successful but very tough pro debut  just a few months ago to face Theo Desjardins. Theo is a fomer 125 lb champ but recently lost that title and has had trouble whenever he has stepped up in competition. Billy would definitely be a step up fight for him, and the biggest win of Theo's career, especially at 135 lbs. Billy looks to be the bigger and stronger guy and has a great wrestling backround.  Theo has a ton of heart and is decent everywhere.  I look for Billy to definitely try to take this to the ground and go for either a sub or GNP victory.  Theo will more than likely try to keep it standing, if he can successfully do that this will be a great fight, if not it it wlll be a long night for Desjardins!

125 Chris Cole (3-1) vs Robbie Leroux (5-1 Clinch)

"Relentless" Robbie Leroux has been searching for a big fight for quite awhile and a big fight he has found! This fight will be very big in deciding the top of the 125 lb rankings. Robbie brings an elite wrestling base to the fight and I am told a very improved striking game. This will be his first fight at 125 so it will be interesting to see how he carries the weight and reacts to the cut. Chris Cole will be bringing a nice ground game to the cage as well and likes to finish fights via submission. He has trained at Sityodtong so may have a striking edge and he has trained at Tim Burrills so has to be decnt on the grond. The question is can he handle the "Relentless" wrestling ability of Robbie. The winner will most likely be right near the top of the 125 lb class!

170? Tyson Chartier (2-2 SYT) vs Tim O'Connell (4-4 Black Diamond MMA)

Tyson Chartier looks to bounce back after a tough loss in his as fight and looks to do it back on a big stage. Tyson's known as a great wrester with a strong submission game who had a phenomenal amateur career. He seems to be trying to find his groove in the pro ranks and this fght could be the one to kickstart some momentum. Facing Tyson will be Tim O'Connell. Tim is a veteran and known more as a ground fighter but did last deep into the fight with feared striker and Chartier teammate, Andres Jeudi. This fight looks pretty even on paper and is pretty important for both guys moving forward in the local MMA scene.

145 Ruben Rey (5-3 Rukus) vs Sergion Moran Cabrera (1-0 Wai Kru)

Ruben comes in with a great wrestling pedigree and alot of popularity as the co-founder of Team Rockstar ad the head of Rukus fighting Academy, both based in Rhode Island. He is coming off a brutal fight in his last outing with Joe Cushman which he came up slightly short in. He always brings an exciting fight to the cage and will have a huge crowd there to support. His opponent, Sergio Cabrera is also very well rounded and extremely energetic and exciting. He has only one pro fight but don't let this fight fool you, Sergio can straight up scrap! This fight is my choice for fight of the night and props has to go out to Sergio for taking this fight, whether it is too big a step up will be known Friday night!

155 Mike Campbell (10-4 Tim Burrill/Tri-Force) vs Don Carlos Clauss (9-6 Bombsquad)

Simply known as "The Beast" Campbell will be coming in off a little layoff and looking to stop the momentum of wrestling machine, Don Carlos Clauss. Campbell is on the brink of the next level and Clauss has won 2 big fights in a row including a huge Bellator win so this fight has huge implications going forward for both guys. The CES fighter, Campbell is known for his strength and striking but has been working hard on his wrestling and BJJ and claims to be able to handle this fight wherever it goes. Clauss, who was a four year letterman at D-11 Virginia in wrestling will most likely look to take it to the ground but has no problem standing and banging either. He is the consumate spoiler and this fight is no different for him. Can Campbell keep it standing? Can Don Carlo Clauss get it to the ground? Or will we see a surprise improvement in one of these fighters that will effect the outcome. This one should be a battle anywhere the fight goes!

185 John "Doomsday" Howard (16-7 Wai Kru) vs Scotty "Sweet Dreams" Rehm (7-6 Pro Elite)

This fight is the ultimate David and Goliath battle. On one side you have a guy who is chomping at the bit to get back to the UFC and ripping through the local competition. On the other side you have a guy who just enjoys to fight and really brings it every time he steps in the cage. Doomsday seems to have the edge eveywhere but that is why they fight the fights. Rehm is known to have a heavy right hand and if one lands flush we may have a new champion. The super experienced Howard I am sure will not be too accomodating to that scenario and may even take it to the ground where he may have an even bigger avantage. Barring a SWEET SWEET dream Howard should control the action but this is how legends are made. So until his hand is raised he must respect the heart and power of the chiseled veteran,Scotty Rehm. This fight no matter how it goes should definitely be exciting and end with a bang, catapulting Howard possibly to the big show or Rehm to a local tall tale!!

~Thanks Mike for helping us out again.  You do a great job on the teasers and we really appreciate it.  Tickets are still available for CES so you can get them at the show or buy them online here.  It is difficult when there are two shows that night but with this card I am sure CES will have no problem filling the casino with action hungry MMA fans!!  We will have a special guest review for this event, with limited or no pictures and we should have the live updates.  I will not give up the name of the special guest reviewer, you will have to just wait and see.~CityBoy
