[NEF PRESS RELEASE]
Bangor, Maine (January 19, 2023) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine on February 11, 2023, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 51: Banger in Bangor.” Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur welterweight bout to the card. Jon Assam (2-4) is scheduled to face Zach Danesh (0-1) at a fight weight of 170 pounds.
Assam will make his seventh appearance in the NEF cage on February 11. It will mark one year since his last fight – a loss to Justin Kangas (now 0-1 as a pro) at “NEF 46” in February 2022. That fight was a very close back-and-forth encounter that went to the judges’ scorecards with Kangas able to pull out the split decision. Assam’s most recent win came at “NEF 44” in the summer of 2021 against Austin Hamilton (0-3) when Hamilton could not answer the bell to start the third round. Assam represents Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) based in Lewiston, Maine.
