Buck “Knuckles” Pineau Set To Return At Fight Night IV

Lewiston, Maine (August 7, 2012) – New England Fights! (NEF) announced today the return of Buck “Knuckles” Pineau (4-1) for Fight Night IV on September 8th in Lewiston, ME at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. On that night, “Knuckles” is set to take on fast-rising amateur middleweight threat Allan Josselyn (2-1) from Greg Williams' always tough Team Kaze in New Hampshire.

“We've been very fortunate to have a core group of guys that have been with us for every show since the beginning and Buck Pineau is certainly amongst those fighters,” stated NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson. “Buck is one of our go-to guys and is always willing to fight whoever I offer up to him as an opponent. He's all-at-once one of the easiest guys to make a bout for because he's such a competitor and just wants to get out there and compete, but at the same time he's also challenging to match-up because so few guys are willing to step-up and face him. Allan was one of the only guys actually asking to fight Buck.”

Pineau, who fights out of the Choi Institute in Portland, ME, first competed under the NEF banner at Fight Night I in February. He entered the ring that night with a 2-0 record, but quickly learned what a good wrestler can do in the cage when Team Burgess' Dan Burke (2-0) ended “Knuckle's” night early by putting Pineau to sleep in the first round with an arm-triangle choke. After that fight, Pineau rededicated himself to training and has since rattled off two fast first-round victories, including a stunning 11-second knockout over Ryan Dean (0-1) at Fight Night II in Biddeford, ME back in April.

“It felt great to get that win,” stated Pineau. “After that tough loss to Dan Burke, I took a long, hard look at my fight game and stepped up my training in an effort to fill in the holes. There is no way to describe the feeling when your hard work pays off.”

“At 6'2”, Pineau's long reach poses an interesting puzzle for any amateur 185er in the Northeast to solve,” said NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “Interestingly though, half of Pineau's wins are by way of knockout while the other two fights he's won have come via submission. He's showing the kind of diversity skill-wise that take him a long way in this sport if he chooses to continue to apply himself as he has been.”

Looking to interrupt Pineau's progress and standing 6'1” in his own right is Allan Jossselyn, who is also riding high on his own pair of big back-to-back wins. NEF fans first met Josselyn back in June at Fight Night III when he brutally knocked out Matt Bender (0-2) of Central New York MMA in less than a minute. “That was a crazy fight,” stated DiSalvo. “Those guys decided at the beginning of the bout to turn that fight into a street brawl and then they just started swinging for the fences. By the end of it, Josselyn was the only man still standing—it was wild.”

“Buck is the right fight for Allan right now,” stated Team Kaze coach Greg Williams. “He has the perfect amount of experience and a good record. A lot will be learned in this fight!”

“This fight on September 8th is going to be a war,” stated Pineau. “I've really stepped it up in the gym, earning my blue belt in BJJ and constantly challenging myself with my striking training. I'm ready for anything, but I hope to have the chance to really showcase my striking skills and come away with the third knockout of my amateur career.”

“In the last three months, Buck Pineau has rattled off two impressive wins and moved to the #4 spot in the NortheastMMA.net amateur middleweight rankings,” stated Peterson. “Josselyn is game and lobbied for this bout so fans are guaranteed a scrap—don't sleep on this one on September 8th!”

FIGHT NIGHT IV is slated for September 8 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, ME. The card will feature a headline fight between Jesse Peterson (6-2) and Cody Lightfoot (6-3) for the NEF Maine State MMA Middleweight Title, as well as a fight for the NEF Maine State MMA Welterweight Title between Ryan Sanders (4-1) and UFC veteran Ricardo Funch (8-4).
