CES 'Gold Rush' 8/9/2013 Review

We are here and fights are about to start.  I am sitting next to my MMA buddies Nick Mahmood and Old School.  The traffic was horrible here so CES delayed the show a little bit.  Thanks guys!  I will add more to this later.  Big Dan and Kevin the Ref are are refs for the evening.  Kelly from Crossface is taking photos for CES and Warchild is taking photos for us.  He calmed down from his road rage in the traffic.  There was a concert going on in the hallway with the apparel vendors.  For apparell vendors I saw SKS Fight Gear and BadAss.  For local celebs I have seen Todd Chattelle, Andre S, Tom Evans, Ping, Matt Bessette, Doomsday, Big John and Pat Walsh.  The place is filling up and the fights are about to start.

Awards:

Fight of the Night: Cheyenne Vasquez against Terrell Clark....split decision and lots of action.
Submission of the Night: No submissions of the night!  Who would have thought that?
KO/TKO of the Night:  The Man Rob Font with the tko victory over Chris Foster
Blunder of the Night: Everything went smooth

It was another great night of fights for CES.  The place was packed with MMA fans and the show ran smoothly.  Thanks to CES for allowing us to cover the event.  From start to finish the fighters brought it.  I was surprised that out of all the fights there weren't any submissions!  Chuck O'Neil and Gil de Freitas brought it right from the bell and they were swinging like they wanted to end it.  In the end Gil swarmed in and got the ref stoppage and now will most likely be moving up to rank #1 on NortheastMMA.net's ranks.  Rob Font didn't want to go to another decision either and rushed in and worked his combos and finished Chris Foster with an elbow that sent him down where he finished with some ground and pound.  That is how you take the featherweight belt.  As I said Rob Font continues to impress and I think it is only a matter of time before he gets the call up to Bellator or UFC.  I would really like to see him fight the Mangler Matt Bessette next.  Tom Egan made his fight look easy with his precision and got the quick W as well.  Banana looked impressive too and although he couldn't finish he dominated Bedard the entire three rounds.  This fight was exciting when it was on its feet though because Bedard was connecting on a few shots and was looking the knockout.  All of our photos will be going to our fan page so make sure you support us and like the fanpage.  Til next time, thanks for letting us getting you all 'closer to the cage!'
