COMBAT ZONE 72 PREVIEW 11/23/2019

Combat Zone returns this Saturday to the Double Tree in Manchester New Hampshire.  The doors will be opening up at 5:30pm and the first fight is set to start at 7pm.  Once again, Combat Zone has a mixed bag of matches which includes 3 grappling, 1 kickboxing and 7 mma bouts.  Of course, the ones I am most excited for are the mixed martial arts battles!  Warchild and I will be making the trip to cover the show for you all.  This will be the last mma show of the year in New England as far as I know so everyone please come out!  Get your tickets by clicking the link here.  Let me break down the fight card for you all.  I will only be breaking down the mma portion.

185 AM MMA Jeff Reynolds (1-1) Triumph bjj vs. Steve Foley 0-0 (Citadel)

The first mma match will be between Jeff Reynolds and Steve Foley at 185 lbs.  Jeff trains with Triumph BJJ and comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  He has 1 win by ko/tko to strikes and 1 loss by ko/tko to strikes.  His opponent is Steve Foley and he trains with Redline.  He will be making his amateur debut.  I see this fight being a stand up battle.

135 AM MMA April Canavan (0-0) Pride Martial Arts vs. Megan Rosado (3-1) Evolution Athletix

Then at 135 lbs April Canavan will be taking on Megan Rosado.  April trains with Pride Martial Arts and will be making her amateur debut.  Her opponent is Megan Rosado and she trains with Evolution Athletix.  She comes into this fight with a 3-1 record.  In the win column, she has 2 by ko/tko and 1 by split decision.  Her only loss came by a split decision to Glory Watson.  In this battle, Megan has the fight experience and has proven she is tough to finish.  April is going to have to bring it this Saturday if she wants that win.

​155 AM MMA Tyler Bourque (2-0) Gate City mma vs. Jaylen Patrick Jones (1-2) Defensive Edge

At 155 lbs Tyler Bourque will be squaring off against Jaylen Patrick Jones.  Tyler trains with Gate City MMA and comes into this fight with a 2-0 record.  He has both of his wins by way of submission.  His opponent is Jaylen Patrick Jones and he trains with Defensive Edge.  He comes into this fight with a 1-2 record with  1 loss  by decision.  The rest of the info was incomplete online.  I see this one being a back and forth battle so it should be a good one.

Then at 130 lbs Chelsea Tucker will be taking on Alyssa Marini.  Chelsea trains with First Class MMA and comes into this fight with a 2-3 record.  Both of her wins come by ko/tko to strikes.  For her losses, she lost 1 by ko/tko to strikes, 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  Her opponent is Alyssa Marini and she trains with NETT.  She comes into this fight with a 2-1 record with 1 win by ko/tko and 1 win by submission.  For her losses, she lost by decision to Glory Watson.  Both of these ladies love to stand and swing so I see this one being a stand up war.  I am so pumped for this one!

170 AM TITLE MMA Taylor Mears (3-0) LRVT vs. Mike Bezanson (3-0) Kaze

At 170 lbs Taylor Mears will be squaring off against Mike Bezanson for the title.  Taylor trains with LRVT and comes into this fight with a 3-0 record.  For his wins, he has 1 by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  His opponent is Mike Bezanson and he trains with Team Kaze.  He comes into this fight with a 3-0 record with all 3 wins by ko/tko.  This fight has fight of the night written all over it.  Both of these guys are exciting and love to put on shows for the fans and I see this being a stand up war.

Then at 145 lbs Joey Sanchez will be taking on Jake Pilla.  Joey trains with First Class MMA and comes into this fight with an 0-2 record.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko to strikes and 1 by submission.  His opponent is Jake Pilla and he trains with NETT.  Jake will be making his pro debut once again since his last debut resulted in a No Contest in a painful groin shot.  Expect this fight to be very loud and an exciting one.

145 AM TITLE MMA Tom Pagliarulo (4-1) Burgess MMA vs. Brandon Gibbs (4-1) Hudson Combat Academy

For the main event Tom Pagliarulo will be facing off against Brandon Gibbs for the 145 lb Amateur Title.  Tom trains with Burgess MMA and comes into this fight with a 4-1 record.  In the win column, he has 2 by ko/tko, 1 by submission and 1 by decision.  His one loss came by guillotine at a previous Combat Zone event.  His opponent is Brandon Gibbs and he trains with Hudson Combat Academy.  He also comes into this fight with a 4-1 record with all 4 wins by submission.  His one loss came by ko/tko in Round 2.   This is going to be an awesome title fight as both fighters on paper have the exact same record.  They both seem very well versed on the ground and Tom has proven he has the hands to put people down.  This fight is definitely worth the price of admission.
