CES 4/12/2013 Teaser

This Friday CES is back with another installment of CES MMA at the Twin River Casino.  Jimmy Burchfield and company have put together another stacked card.  Mad props to Pat Sullivan for the hard work he has put into getting the fights signed and for keeping us up to date.  Tickets start at just $35 bux and are available at the link here.  This card has some of the top matches that any organization would be happy to have as their main event.  Normally Mike Strazzere chips in and helps us out but this week I am doing double duty due to him being busy making sure Matt Doherty is on point!  Sorry folks you are stuck with two teasers by moi for this week!  Hopefully they won't be too dull :-D Ok onto the fight card...Keep in mind this may not be the exact fight order and also that all of these fights are professional ones.

170 lbs Toby Oden (Rivera MMA 1-0) vs. Emmanuel Walo (Allstar MMA 2-1)

First fight is Toby Oden against Emmanuel Walo at 170lbs.  Toby trains with Rivera MMA and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He won his first pro fight at the last CES in February against Sylvester Murataj early in the first round via rear naked choke.  He looked very comfortable in his pro debut on the ground.  His opponent Emmanuel trains with Allstar MMA and has a record of 2-1.  He has a decision and a submission victory in his career.  His sole pro loss was a unanimous decision back in 2011.  This is a great opening fight and sounds like it is going to be a ground battle.

125lbs Kody Nordby( Allaire 3-0) vs. Jimmy Grant (Allstar MMA 3-1)

Next up is the phenom Kody Nordby against Jimmy Grant at 125lbs.  Kody trains out of Allaire MMA and comes into this fight with a 3-0 record.  He went pro not too long ago and has strung out 3 straight victories. In fact he never lost in his amateur career either.  He has finished all 3 of his pro fights, all three by submission.  Jimmy trains out of Allstar MMA and has a record of 3-1.  He has two decision and one submission victory in his career.  His one loss came via submission early in round 1.  Now I have never heard of Jimmy's opponents that he has fought before due to him not fighting around here but he has a real tough opponent in Kody Nordby.  Kody did show he was beatable against Dan Cormier when he got the better of him in the stand up but Kody can take the fight to the ground anytime he wants.  So far no one has been able to stop him and I don't see Jimmy doing that.  I see Kody winning by submission victory.

170lbs Jay Bakanowski (Wai Kru 1-1) vs. Keenan Raymond(Triforce Pro debut)

[UPDATE]: Jay was injured and Ralph Johnson stepped up

Jay Bakanowski takes on Keenan Raymond at 155lbs.  Jay trains out of Wai Kru and has a 1-1 record.  He lost his first fight against Leon Davis via unanimous decision where Leon controlled the entire fight on the ground.  Jay bounced back with an awesome fight against a very tough Bobby Flynn in which he won via rear naked choke in rd 2.  Keenan trains out of Triforce MMA and will be making his pro debut.  I couldn't find out much about Keenan's amateur fights but I did see that he has won one via submission.  This is real close fight on paper but I gotta edge Jay on this one due to fight experience.

155lbs Nate Andrews (Triforce 3-0) vs. Asa Zorn (Ind) 0-1

Then Nate Andrews takes on Asa Zorn at 155lbs.  Nate trains with Triforce MMA and has a 3-0 record.  Nate has two submission victories and one tko victory due to elbows.  He also had many submission victories in his ammy career.  Asa is an independent fighter with an 0-1 record.  He stepped up to take this fight right after his pro debut at Coliseum to the Cage that ended in just 7 seconds to Josh Baker via ref stoppage to strikes.  Asa knows what he is up against but I'm sorry I just don't see it happening.  I see this one ending early by submission with Nate's hand being raised but kudos to Asa for filling in the roster spot.

135lbs Matt Doherty(Redline 1-0) vs. Johnny Campbell (SSSF 5-4)

[UPDATE]: Johnny Campbell called in sick for weigh ins..CES is trying to get a replacement...we are hearing Josh Beauparlant.

Now for the grudge match we have all been waiting for.  I am referring to Matt Doherty against Johnny Campbell at 135lbs.  It all started when they were training together and they got into it hardcore.  It then followed to facebook slams back and forth.  We all know there is only one way to settle it and that is in the cage!  Matt trains with Redline and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He made his pro debut a few CES's ago against Terin Swanson where he won tko punches in the second round.  Johnny trains out of SSSF and has a 5-4 record.  He has 3 KO/TKO , 1 sub and 1 decision victory in his career.  In his 4 lost by two decisions and two submissions.  Matt Doherty has some great stand up and was a Golden glove finalist.  Johnny also has some good stand up so this could make for a real entertaining fight.  I give the edge to Matt Doherty due to his boxing experience, I mean the guy stood and banged it out with Rico Disciullo twice and won.  Don't get me wrong Johnny can definitely win this fight but if I was a betting man I gotta go with Mantis over Cupcake.

145lbs Tom Evans(TUML 2-1)  vs. Shaun Marmas( 4-4 Integrated Martial Arts)

Next up is Tom Evans against Shaun Marmas at 145lbs.  Tom trains with TUML and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  He has a submission and a tko stoppage victory in his pro career.  His only loss is to a decision to Dom Warr.  Shaun trains with Integrated Martial Arts and has a 4-4 record.   He has struggled lately stringing along some wins but he is always ready to battle.  He has won a fight in every way and lost most of his losses from decisions.  I think this is a good match up for both fighters and I think it is going to be a stand up battle.  I think this is going to come down to a real close decision.

135lbs Dinis Paiva Jr (3-3 Keith Allen)  vs. Kin Moy (2-0 Redline)

Then Dinis Paiva takes on Kin Moy at 135lbs.  Dinis trains with Keith Allen's MMA and comes into this battle with a 3-1 record.  Dinis is on a two fight win streak and looks to keep that rolling.  He is a well rounded fighter and can win anyway needed.  Kin trains out of Redline and comes into this fight with a 2-0 record.  Kin won his first fight via armbar and then won a tough second fight against Hassan Mahmood via tko stoppage to strikes.  This is another tough fight for each fighter.  Again just as the last fight I feel this fight is dead even on paper.  Kin will use his striking to wear down Dinis and Dinis will want to use his wrestling to get his takedowns and control the fight.

145lbs Lucas Cruz (Nova Unaio 6-0) vs. Rob Font (Sityodtong 5-1)

Lucas Cruz will face Rob Font in the cage at 145lbs.  Wow so much can be said about this fight.  Lucas trains with Nova Unaio and is undefeated at 6-0.  He has won in every way possible, by knockout, submissions and decisions.  Rob trains out of Sityodtong and comes into this fight with a 5-1.  Rob is determined to take tough fights and that he has.  He is on a four fight win streak and looking to make it five.  He has also won in every way possible.  One thing to note is Lucas is stepping down to 145lbs to meet Rob.  I feel this fight is going to go to a decision and it is definitely going to be a fight of the night contender.

185lbs Todd Chattelle( Triforce MMA 11-8) vs. Dennis Olson(Team Link Hooksett 12-7)

Then CES has Todd Chattelle against Dennis Olson for a rematch at 185lbs.  Todd trains out of Triforce MMA and has a 11-8 record.  Todd has 8 KO/TKO, 2 Subs and 1 decision victories in his career.  He lost his majority of losses to KO/TKO stoppages.  Dennis trains for this fight with Team Link Hooksett and comes into this fight with a 12-7 record.  He has 1 KO/TKO , 8 SUBs and 3 decisions.  Now the first fight between them was in 2007 in which Dennis won the unanimous decision.  Both fighters have improved since then and they are looking to square off once again.  I for one am excited because I didn't see the first bout.  Todd is going to want to keep this standing and finish Dennis off with a knockout or ref stoppage to strikes.  Dennis will want to get this to the ground and work his submissions.

185lbs John Howard (Wai Kru 17-7)  vs. Jason Louck (Militech Fighting Systems 15-10)

For the last fight of the evening John Howard takes on Jason Louck at 185lbs.  John Howard trains out of Wai Kru and has a record of 17-7.  I really shouldn't have to break down any fights for him because we all know John Howard LOL.  He is very well rounded and is on a four fight win streak.  He is hungry for more wins in his quest to get back in the UFC.  In his way is Jason Louck fighting out of Militech Fighting Systems.  Jason has a 15-10 record and is very well rounded.  It is hard for me to judge how good Jason he is from Iowa and I am not familiar with his opponents but I gotta root for the hometown fighter and that is John Howard!!

That puts the wraps on this edition of WesternMassMMA.com's teaser.  I hope to see you all there at CES rooting on the fighters.  Warchild will be there taking photos and I will be doing the live play by play.  As I said in the intro this card is stacked and we are fortunate to have a promotion like CES that constantly puts in the big bucks so we can all see these top ranked fighters on one card. Many of the fights on this card will shift the rankings on NortheastMMA.net for sure.  Thanks again to CES for keeping us up to date.  If you enjoyed this article please share it with your friends.
