CAGE TITANS 30 8/27/16 TEASER

Cage Titans returns this Saturday with their 30th show.  Yes, you read that right 30 shows since its existence and they are now entering their 7th year of mixed martial arts in Massachusetts.  They have put together another epic card with 23 fights total.  Out of the 21 , 7 of them are pro and there are 2 ammy titles also on the line. There is a different start time for this show, the doors open at 5pm and the first fight will kick off at 6pm so make sure to plan accordingly.  This does mean we have a good chance at getting out of there before midnight before Warchild turns into a pumpkin.  Follow along as I break down the fight card in its entirety for you all.

125 AM Jake Kasperowski (1-2, Redline) vs Tim Hagan (1-0, Nostos)

For the first fight Jake Kasperowski will be taking on Tim Hagan.  Jake comes into this fight with a 1-2 record and trains with Redline MMA with his sole win by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by decision and 1 by submission.  His opponent is Tim Hagan and he trains with Nostos MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with 1 win by ko/tko.  This will be a great first fight to kick off the night cause both guys are from solid striking schools.

170 AM Jon Ciampa (0-1, Connors) vs Brandon Murphy (0-0, Speed School)

At 170 lbs Jon Ciampa will face off against Brandon Murphy.  Ciampa is from Connor's MMA and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight against Kris Silck by ko/tko in Rd 3.  He is ready to earn that first mma victory this Saturday.  His opponent is Brandon Murphy and he trains with Speed School out of CT.  He will be making his amateur debut and looking to get his first win.  Both records basically identical which should make this another well matched battle.

125 AM John Lessard (2-1, Redline) vs Josh Meehan (2-0, Juniko)

Next up is at 125 lbs John Lessard meets Josh Meehan in the cage.  John trains with Redline MMA and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record with both wins by decision.  His only loss came by ko/tko against Ali Zebian.  His opponent is Josh Meehan and he trains with Juniko.  Josh comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 1 ko/tko and 1 submission victory.  Another close battle and I see this one going back and forth to a decision.

125 AM Andrew Herbst (0-0, Hyannis MMA) Vs William Graustuck (1-0, UFC Gym)

At 125 lbs Andrew Herbst takes on William Graustuck.  Herbst trains with Hyannis MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is William Graustuck and he trains out of UFC Gym.  William comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with a submission win over Sean Costello.  I see this one being a ground battle.

155 AM Austin Schalla (1-4, Dexter) vs Alex Ortiz (3-2, Speed School)

At 155 lbs Austin Schalla will face off against Alex Ortiz.  Schalla trains with Team Dexter and comes into this fight with a 1-4 record with his 1 win by submission over Hector Ramos.  In the loss column, he lost all 4 by decisions and 2 of them were split so very close.  His opponent is Alex Ortiz and he trains with Speed School.  He comes into this fight with a 3-2 record with 1 submission and 2 decision wins.  For his losses, he lost one ko/tko and one by split decision.  I predict this one will be coming down to a decision and I am going to go with the split decision win for Ortiz.

155 AM Jose Atiles (0-1, Brazilian Top Team) vs Ed Forlenza (1-0, Juniko)

Next up is Jose Atiles against Ed Forlenza at 155 lbs.  Atiles trains with Brazilian Top Team and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight by ko/tko at Cage Titans 29 and is ready to get that first W as an amateur.  His opponent is Ed Forlenza and he trains with Juniko.  He comes into this fight with a 1-0 record with 1 win by ko/tko at a previous NEF event in Hyannis.  This should be another good battle for Cage Titans.

205 AM Zeal McGrew (0-1, Redline) vs Ron Marshall (1-1, Team Anubis)

At 205 Zeal McGrew will square off against Ron Marshall.  Zeal trains with Redline and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight at Cage Titans 26 by ko/tko to Rob Brown.  His opponent is Ron Marshall and he trains with Anubis.  He comes into this fight with a 1-1 record with 1 win by decision and 1 loss by submission.  I see these big guys swinging for the fences in front of an excited crowd with a stand up battle.

185 AM Patrick Crowley (0-0, Florian MMA) vs Fabio Cherant (0-1, Juniko)

Patrick Crowley will take on Fabio Cherant at 185 lbs this Saturday.  Crowley trains with Florian MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Fabio Cherant and he trains with Juniko.  He comes into this fight with an 0-1 record with a decision loss to Ron Marshall. I see this one being a ground battle.

142 AM Shane Dougherty (0-0, USMMA) vs Shaun Shubert (0-4, Red Seal)

At a catch weight of 142 lbs Shane Dougherty will take on Shaun Shubert.  Shane trains with USMMA and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Shaun Shubert and he trains with Red Seal.  Shaun comes into this fight with an 0-4 record with 3 losses by ko/tko and 1 loss by decision.  I saw Shubert's last fight and it was a slug fest against Mike Pan so I am hoping to see more of that in this fight!

150 AM Seth Jacobs (0-0, Hyannis MMA) vs Chris Sniger (0-1, SBG East)

At 150 lbs Seth Jacobs faces off against Chris Sniger.  Jacobs trains out of Hyannis MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Chris Sniger and he trains with SBG East and comes into this fight with an 0-1 record.  He lost his first fight by submission to Quentin Harris at Cage Titans 28.
On paper, very close fight which should make for another good battle.

130 AM Kerri Kennison (2-1, Team Link NH) vs Kylie O’Hearn (2-0, Juniko)

At a catch weight of 130 lbs Kerri Kennison will be fighting Kylie O'Hearn.  Kerri trains with Team Link NH and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record.  She has 1 win by decision and recently just won by submission against Lisa Blaine at PFC 20.  She lost her first fight by ko/tko against Jeanette Pomales and since then has bounced back with 2 wins.  Her opponent is Kylie O'Hearn who trains with Juniko.  She has quickly become 2-0 since she turned 18 with 1 win by decision and 1 win by ko/tko to strikes.  This has all the makings for fight of the night.  Kylie is the young phenom storming into the division and taking every one out on her way.  Kennison has fought tough fights her entire amateur career and is looking to show she is the one who deserves to be at the top.  I cannot wait for this one.

HVY AM TITLE Jose Campos (1-0 Team BST) vs. Jason Peppe (3-0 Redline)

The heavy weight title is on the line when Jose Campos takes on Jason Peppe.  Campos trains with Team BST and has a 1-0 record.  He won his first ammy fight by decision against a huge beast William Knight.  His opponent is Jason Peppe and he trains with Redline.  Peppe comes into this fight with a 3-0 record with all 3 wins by ko/tko to strikes.  The heavy weight amateur division is very slim in New England and one of these heavies is going to win the coveted Cage Titans title and the other one is going to be handed their first loss of their mma career.  How can you not be excited about this fight?

185 AM Sean Bettencourt (4-2 Juniko) vs. Morgan Dean (2-0 Dexter MMA)

At 185 lbs Sean Bettencourt takes on Morgan Dean.  Sean trains with Juniko now and comes into this fight with a 4-2 record.  For his wins, he won 3 by ko/tko and 1 by split decision.  For his losses, he lost 2 by submission.  His opponent is Morgan Dean and he trains out of Dexter MMA.  Dean comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with both wins by ko/tko.  Both of these fighters have the hands and the strength to end the fight at anytime and that my friends makes for a great match up.

170 AM TITLE John McAndrews (5-1 Gate City) vs. Bobby Gasdia (3-1 SSSF)

Then the 170 lb title is on the line when John McAndrews takes on Bobby Gasdia.  John trains with Gate City MMA and comes into this fight with a 5-1 record.  For his wins he has 2 by ko/tko, 1 sub and 2 by decision.  He has fought at all different weight classes and has the Combat Zone 185 lb title and is now has the Cage Titans title in his grips.  His only loss came by a decision to Sean Evans at CFX event.  His opponent is Bobby Gasdia and he trains with SSSF.  Bobby comes into this fight with a 3-1 record with 1 ko/tko, 1 submission and 1 decision victory.  Both fighters are very well rounded and have proven they can win any where on the mat.  This is another awesome battle that has the potential to be fight of the night.

170 PRO Joe Levasseur (Triforce 2-1) vs. Sean Lally (4-2 Sityodtong)

For the first pro fight of the night Joe Levaseur will face off against Sean Lally.  Joe trains with Triforce and comes into this fight with a 2-1 record with both wins by submission.  He has 1 loss by ko/tko back in 2009 at a previous CFX show.  His opponent is Sean Lally and he trains with Sityodtong.  Lally comes into this fight with a 4-2 record with 3 KO/TKO and 1 submission victory.  He lost 2 fight by submission, one to Will Santiago and the other to Brandon Chagnon.  This should be another exciting fight and I am curious to see if Joe can handle Lally's takedowns.

185 PRO Sean Evans (0-0 Team BST) vs. Justin Sumter (0-1 Newell MMA)

At 185 lbs Sean Evans will face off against Justin Sumter.  Evans will be making his pro debut and trains with Team BST.  As an amateur, he went 3-1 with 3 wins by decisions.  His only loss came by a submission to Pat McCrohan.  His opponent is Justin Sumter and he trains with Newell MMA.  He comes into this fight with an 0-1 record with his only loss for Bellator against Tim Caron.  As an amateur Justin has lots of ko/kto so we know he has good hands.  This is another awesome battle for Cage Titans and this one is too close to call!

125 PRO Ernesto Ornelas (2-6 Choi's ) vs. Dave Baxter (2-1 USMMA)

At 125 lbs Ernesto Ornelas will be taking on Dave Baxter in the Cage Titans cage.  Ornelas trains with Choi's up in Maine and comes into this fight with a 2-6 record.  In the win column, he has 1 win by ko/tko, 1 win by submission and 1 win by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and 5 by submission.  His opponent is David Baxter and he trains with USMMA.  Dave comes into this fight with a 2-1 record with 2 wins by way of submission.  His only loss came by submission against Josh Ricci.  If Ernie can keep this fight standing I think he has a great shot at winning and if Baxter gets it to the ground I see him working the submission.  This is another solid match up for Cage Titans.

135 PRO Devin Pilkington (0-3 NEC) vs. Max Barrett (2-0 Juniko)

At 135 lbs Devin Pilkington will be squaring off against Max Barrett.  Devin trains with NEC and comes into this fight with an 0-3 record with 2 by ko/tko and 1 by sub.  He is still looking for that first W in the pro division.  Max Barrett trains with Juniko and comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with 1 ko/tko and 1 submission win.  I see this one being a quick one with Mad Max winning by tko to strikes in Rd 1.

135 PRO Fernando Perez (6-13 Team EVT) vs. Johnny Cambell (11-8 SSSF)

At 135 lbs Fernando Perez will be taking on Johnny Campbell.  Perez trains with Team EVT and comes into this fight with a 6-13 record.  For his wins, Perez  has 1 ko/tko, 3 submissions and 2 wins by decision.  For his losses he is coming off of 5 straight losses so he is desperate for a win.  His opponent is Johnny Campbell and he trains with SSSF.  He comes into this fight with an 11-8 record with 5 wins by ko/tko, 1 submission and 5 decision wins.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko, 2 by submission and 5 by decision.  I see this fight going the distance and Campbell winning the decision.

145 PRO Rodrigo Almeida (13-3 Juniko) vs. Manny Bermudez (6-0 SSSF)

At 145 lbs Rodrigo Almeida will be facing off against Manny Bermudez.  Almeida trains with Juniko and comes into this fight with a 13-3 record.  In the win column, he has 2 wins by ko/tko, 5 by submission and 6 wins by way of decision.  For his losses, he lost 2 by submission and 1 split decision.  His opponent is Manny Bermudez and he trains with SSSF.  Manny comes into this fight with a 6-0 record with 1 win by ko/tko, 4 sub and 1 decision.  Both of these fighters have trouble finding opponents and now is the time for them to meet face to face.  As you can see Almeida has the more fight experience but Manny should have no problem adjusting to that.  I see this fight being a jiu jitsu battle for the ages.

125 PRO Remo Cardarelli (6-3 Team BST) vs. Darren Mima (8-4 Blackhole)

In the main event Remo Cardarelli will take on Darren Mima at 125 lbs.  This will be a rematch in which Mima by a ko slam in Rd 1.  Remo trains with his new gym Team BST and comes into this fight with a 6-3 record.  In the win column, he has 4 wins by submission and 2 by decision.  For his losses, he lost all 3 by ko/tko.  His opponent is Darren Mima and he trains with Blackhole BJJ.  Mima comes into this fight with an 8-4 record with 3 KO/tko, 1 submission and 4 wins by decision.  For his losses, he lost 4 by submission.  Now one thing I have to mention is that Remo has rematched 2 other opponents before this and won the rematch every time.  He wanted this rematch bad and he is getting it this Saturday.  You don't want to miss this fight!
