🚨BREAKING--🚨 LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CONTEST ADDED TO BANGOR CARD THIS FRIDAY

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Bangor, Maine (September 6, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns to Bangor, Maine on Friday, September 9, 2022, with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 49: Queen City Showdown.”  It will be NEF’s first event in Bangor in more than three years.  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur light heavyweight bout to the card.  David McCarty (1-2) will take on Jack Burke (1-1) at a fight weight of 205 pounds.

David McCarty made an impressive debut last November at “NEF 45” in Portland, Maine.  It took him just 38 seconds to knock out Danny Dray (0-1).  McCarty would return at “NEF 46” in February and suffer his first loss at the hands of Jeff Reynolds (3-2).  Likewise, he would drop his next bout to David Burke (3-0) at “NEF 47” a few months later.  McCarty, who hails from nearby Hermon, Maine, will look to get back on the winning track in front of his home crowd.  He represents Titan Athletics based in Brewer, Maine.

"I’m looking to bring my best to this one,” said McCarty. “Fighting in Bangor is really exciting for me as we’ll be fighting in front of friends and family.  I don't know this guy, but I hope he's ready to put on a show.”

Jack Burke made his amateur debut at “NEF 46” last February with a first-round finish of Nick Legrande (0-1).  He would lose his second fight to undefeated Hassan Graham (4-0) earlier this summer on a fight card in Massachusetts.  Burke fights out of New Hampshire and currently represents Jackson Wink.

“I’m thrilled to get back in the NEF cage, and to get to throw down with such a game opponent like David only makes it that much sweeter,” said Burke. “I have nothing but respect for the guy, it’s hard not to be a fan of his style. But I’m confident I’m a level above him, and I intend to leave the NEF crowd thoroughly convinced as well.

“If you put two dogs in the cage like this, you’re not going to need the judges. I can talk about skill and experience all day, but this is just going to come down to who’s the badder man; and I’m one bad motherfucker.”

“After I finish David, I’ll be cementing my spot as the number-one contender at light heavyweight, and NEF will just have to get used to the guy in pink shorts.”

“NEF 49: Queen City Showdown” is set for Friday, September 9 and will be the organization’s long-awaited return to Bangor, Maine. For more information, go to NewEnglandFights.com.  Tickets are available now at TicketMaster.com.
