1 fight that could steal the show...

If you all have been paying attention to local mma, then you'll know that the AFO has their, "Perfect Storm" blowing into Revere on Sept 16, 2011. The card is stacked with several great fights, but one fight in particular stands out to me.

It has been announced, that Kin Moy will be fighting Luis Ramos at 135lb (amateur). Most of us know Kin, he's currently ranked number 4 by Northeast MMA.net, and before his lone loss to now number 1 Rico Discullio, was ranked number 1 himself. He's fighting out of Redline fight sports out of Cambridge Ma. Kin is a very well rounded fighter, but his stand-up is the real show stealer!! Kin throws punch and kick combos with the best of fighters in New England, and has shown he has knock out power to boot!! (no pun intended...) Don't get me wrong, he has also shown that he can take fights to the ground where he uses strong top pressure and nice ground and pound as well. I personally think Kin is the most well rounded fighter in the 135lb division.

Luis Ramos to many is an unknown...He's an 18 year old kid, with an 0-0 mma record, fighting out of Gladiator BJJ/AFT in East Longmeadow Ma. Luis's strength is his grappling. He's a BJJ blue belt under Gabriel Gladiator Santos, and is a standout high school wrestler, and NAGA champion. I first saw Luis grapple at a Fury in Fight Town show a couple years ago in Holyoke Ma. He showed a ton of talent in a quick tapout victory, and I knew right then and there, he'd be one to watch! I've since watched Luis train and compete (in grappling) and I've even had the pleasure of rolling with him.......I haven't felt that dominated in a long time, and I think he was going about 30%!! This kid is the real deal on the ground!! Although I haven't seen his stand up, he claims he can stand and trade too, if needed.

This fight resembles the famed "striker vs grappler" fights, and I think that is where each fighter will win respectively. Kin needs to keep the fight standing, and frustrate the much younger, "greener" fighter in Luis. Luis needs to get this fight to the floor quick. No need to test Kin's striking, we can all vouch that it's pretty sik!! But I think Luis is possibly the best BJJ guy around at 135, and Kin will want to work on his take down defense for this one!! Kin should be no ones first mma fight, but if any 0-0 fighter could pull off the win, young Luis Ramos could just be that guy! So remember, you heard it here first....come out and see two of New England's best 135lb amateur fighters go to war in the AFO cage on September 16 in Revere!!!
