AFO Perfect Storm Announcement

AFO just posted a press release to their upcoming show in September.

"The American Fighting Organization returns to Revere, MA with another night of hard-hitting MMA. Friday night, September 16th the stars of the AFO will once again take to the cage at the Wonderland Entertainment Complex and unleash THE PERFECT STORM on the North Shore.

This is the AFO’s sophomore card in Revere after debuting at Wonderland in July with the critically-acclaimed GLORY event. Much like GLORY, THE PERFECT STORM will feature an amalgam of professional and amateur mixed martial arts contests. In the main event of the evening, AFO mainstay “The Water Buffalo” Ricardo Georges of Lynn’s Team Pradal Serey makes his professional debut against Worcester’s Ralph Johnson. After a very successful amateur career, The Water Buffalo looks to tear into the pro ranks. Georges is the reigning AFO 170 Lb. amateur champion and now has his sights set on the pro title. Johnson is coming off a huge knockout victory over Shawn Baker at GLORY. Johnson walked into the fight with Baker as the underdog, outweighed by over 30 pounds. He walked out of the fight a serious contender in the 170 Lb. division. One thing is for certain – the winner of the main event of THE PERFECT STORM will be propelled further up the pro ranks and will be in line for a title shot in the not-too-distant future.

In another professional bout, it’s a battle of the North Shore as Gloucester’s Christian Rivera faces Chelsea native Fred Mandracchia. Rivera won the first encounter between the two last May. Mandracchia, or “Lord Drac” as he’s known amongst his fans, is looking for redemption in front of a hometown crowd.

Kody Nordby, the 18 year-old phenom of New England MMA, is riding high off back-to-back wins in the AFO in June and July. September 16 he enters the cage across from Matt Doherty of Team Pradal Serey in an amateur showdown. “There is a lot of hype around Kody,” said AFO President Pete DiLorenzo, “but there’s also a lot of hype surrounding Matt as well. This one has ‘fight of the night’ potential. The fans in attendance are the real winners in a fight that promises to be this good!”

Team Pradal Serey’s night does not end there though. Among several other fight’s yet to be announced, TPS’s Dan Connaughton will make his amateur debut against Nick Logan of Lowell’s Doughboy Wrestling Club. Logan caught the attention of the local MMA community in his debut fight at GLORY with a quick armbar submission victory over the more-experienced Tunde Odumusu. DiLorenzo was well-aware of Logan’s abilities long before GLORY, having actually coached opposite the Doughboy team. “He’s an impressive wrestler,” said DiLorenzo of Logan, “I can’t wait to see what else Nick can offer in the cage. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this fight with Dan Connaughton.”

Interested MMA fans should visit the AFO’s website by clicking the AFO banner to the top right. Front row, seated, and general admission tickets are still available but selling fast. More fights will be announced in the coming days."

Three great fights announced so far and I am sure there will be many more to come.  The Wonderland Ballroom is a great venue to host the fights.  There are really no bad seats in the house and there is huge bar ready to serve you.  The lighting was spectacular at the last event and there is a huge parking lot right across from it that is free to park.  So come check it out and see some awesome MMA action!
