Grown Up Boy Films Presents New Series Cages

Take 20 minutes out of your day and watch this stellar video done by the sikos from GrownUp Boy Films.  This first installment of the series follows Tyson Chartier from Sityodtong.  Tyson is a very talented well rounded fighter and extremely knowledgeable in the sport of MMA.  This video follows before his fight and even shows some great footage of his fight.  Many fighters of the local MMA scene are in this video.  It also shows what goes on behind the scenes in a local show, and in this case the Premier FC.  The sound and cinematography is very well done.  I enjoyed this so much I had to learn more about Grown Up Boy Films and this video. Click the jump to follow along.

First I wanted to know how this idea came about?  Benjamin Zidel, co owner of Grown Up Boy Films filled me in. He told me, "The idea was something I had when I realized the only reason I fell in love with MMA was because of TUF. It helped me learn about the process and the personalities of these guys. It helped me gain a rooting interest for or against these amateurs who before, I didn't know much about. Now, with these episodes, my goal is display New England's top talent so when they fight on future cards, more people will know them and choose to root for them. In a way, I want to intro the best and brightest so MMA can flourish in New England and beyond."  Ben brings up some huge points.  This is another reason why we do the Featured Fighter's at WesternMassMMA.com.  We all get to learn more about the fighters and we can relate to them more.  We like to choose once in a while a fighter, we know nothing about and in return we learn and so does all the fight fans!!

I was curious to the amount of work that went into making this video.  Ben told me, "We spent 2 separate days at the gym (interview and training), one day cutting weight, weigh ins and then fight day, so 5 total.  It took my co editor Chris Lee and I awhile to iron out the flow of the edit. Also, being a passion project, it often got put aside by client projects."  It definitely showed the hard work that you guys put into it.  We dabble in the video editing ourselves and we know it takes a boat load of time to complete and we commend you guys on the fine job.

I asked Ben if he could tell me more about the Cage series. Ben told me "It was our first episode and we were trying to find the story within the interview. Once we realized each episode would feel different and would reflect the fighter being profiled, it became easier. Instead of putting everyone in the same box, we let each fighter's character come out instead. Tyson is a masters level business graduate, a very smart and articulate athlete who trains like a machine. So his episode comes off as smooth and professional. Our second episode which should be available by the end of the year, will have a different feel to it. It will be a bit more personal and revealing, which is cool."

I have known Ben a while now from his love of MMA and he has been a fan of our site for some time.  I want to share with you what Grown Up Boy Films is about.  "Grown Up Boy Films is a video production company I began in 2009 while in film school. One of my classmates and best friends, Ray Lisi moved to Boston to work with me in getting our name out there. We have collaborated on a slew of projects, won some awards and have begun building a website full of diverse content, showing our range of abilities to the New England community. Our goal is to provide high quality and affordable services for musicians, fighters, local companies and more who would benefit from some video work displaying their product. We don't want to limit what we can provide so it always depends on the clients needs. We do our very best to exceed them."

Steve Carr from CTMMA.  See you all there!
