1. When and Why did you get into MMA??

My cousin had mentioned he started training there and recommended I check it out. One class and I was hooked.

2. Do you have a background in martial arts, boxing , wrestling etc?

Before SSSF I had no background in any sport or martial art.

3. What's your nickname, how did you get it?

My nickname is The Badger. I was rolling with Lee Metcalf before my first fight and he had said," You're like a badger. Have you ever seen those things they are vicious and they're only 30lbs." Scott Lockhart looked over and said," Badger I like that." and the nickname stuck.

4. What are your ultimate goals in the sport?

I suppose my only goal at the moment is to have a pro fight one day. Hopefully soon.

5. What do you think about your next opponent?

My next opponent is an extremely skilled wrestler and has some great wins over incredible opponents. It will be a huge test for myself and will be a real tough fight.

6. How do you see the fight going/being finished?

Well I don't like to predict fights because there are so many variables. So I just want to be ready to go the distance.

7. What weight do you walk at/how much do you cut to fight?
I walk at 135lbs. I like to diet down to 130lbs and try to cut no more than 5lbs

8. What's your favorite part about fighting?

My favorite part about fighting is the fact that most people you know don't do it. It takes a lot to get in the cage and you learn a lot about your self and what you can accomplish.

9. What's the worst part about fighting?

The worst part about fighting is when you are training for a fight it goes from fun to all business.

10. Anyone locally or in the big's that you really would love to fight, and why?

I don't like to look past my current opponent. Bill Mahoney sets up all my fights and that's something that is great to have.

11. What do you feel is your best weapon in your fights?

My best weapon in a fight is knowing you have trained all possible positions with some of the best fighters in New England.

12. What is your favorite foods that you miss while cutting weight??

All of them. When you can eat any food you want it doesn't matter much to you but when you can't have anything you want it all.

13. What is your most memorable moment to date in MMA??

My second fight up in New Hampshire. I lost the first rd real bad and Bill came in pretty irate that I had not stuck with the game plan. It took a lot of yelling in that minute to get through to me but I went out in the 2nd listened to every word he said and stole the victory.

14. How else do you spend your time when you are not training??

If I'm not training I'm working.

15. What do you do for a living besides fighting??
I'm a CNC machine operator. I just got into it and find it pretty interesting.

I'd like to thank Scott, Bill and everyone else from SSSF. I'm only here because of that school. I'd also like to thank my fiance Tricia and all my friends and family who support me.

Thank you Jared for taking the time.  I have seen Jared fight twice and he shows some outstanding wrestling.  He was constantly in control throughout all the rounds and won in dominating fashion.  With that said he is fighting another outstanding wrestler Kody Nordby at AFO Thanksgiving Massacre.  This has potential to be the fight of the night.  Will their wrestling skills just cancel each other out and they stay standing or will we see a battle for position and some great jiu jitsu??  We will find out soon enough and good luck to you Jared!!
