Cage Titans 'Victorious' 10/20/2012 Review

We are live at Cage Titans.  I went to SKSFightGear right away and bought my raffle tickets and got my free shirts.  Great deal and it helps a great cause.  I made my way down to the cage and jumped through some hoops and got some power and wireless access so it should be a go for the live play by play.  As for fight changes the George Nassar/Chris Suarez fight is off the card and another fighter dropped out and Shayne Stephenson stepped up to take the fight.  That leaves them with 13 fights which is a perfect number if you ask me.  Mike Polvere and Brandie are running around like crazy, that means is almost show time!!  The Artist is ready to take photos for you all and we hope you follow along to our play by play.  In the next few days we will be plugging in the photos so keep checking and as always we will be uploading them all to our fanpage on facebook.  Their announcer for the evening is Harry Jones.  Mike Guglielmo is in the cage talking about the awesome movement for DKMS.  Harry Jones is the jack of all trades.  He just announcing and he sings the national anthem!  For local celebs, I see Old School, Mrs. Old School,Billy Giovanella, Dany and Joe Lauzon, Mark Dellagrotte, Tyson Chartier, Big John, Loco Lobo, Tyler King, Greg Rebello, Chris Rowley, Rico Disciullo Crazy Eddie Lee, ExtremeMMA, Mike Strazzere and many more.  I would estimate about 600-700 people in attendance.  Mike is ready for action he has pink dress shirt on. The ring girls are Katryna and Jill. Time to start the fights...

Dan Lopez defeats Jamie Courtney via split decision.  Ok so I can see the judges perhaps giving Dan the win  but 30-27 from one judge?? Jamie had a takedown in round 2 and 3 and doesn't even win one round???  Guess that's why you don't leave it in the hands of the judges.

one early stoppage I felt, and the judging was horrible. (The Artist says," Refs need to find a better way to see the action.", recommends watching how Big Dan and Kevin "The Ref" approach fights/ fighters. You're in the way and distracting.  No need to be as close as you are for 90% of the action. Also stand the fighters up sooner.  No one wants to see two men lock each other up for 3mins on the ground if there is no advantage.  Just my two cents, but it is written from a fighter's perspective.)
Announcer: 4, announcer said a few wrong submissions, would have been cool if he said choked out by a kimura.
Ring Girls: 5 we love the Titan girls!
Vendors: 5 SKSFightGear and Suckerpunch were there.
Overall: 4.57

Great score and a great night of fights.  The crowd was pumped and roaring.  It seemed some of the crowd left before the big fights which was a little surprising.  Why spend the money and just watch the one fighter you want to see and not get your moneys worth.  Maybe I am just too cheap LOL.  Their loss, they missed some great fights at the end.  The Rob Font/Brandon Fleming lived up to the buzz and even though I feel the judges got it wrong, it was really close.  I am usually dead on when I watch UFC and all the local shows so I do have some experience. The judges also had it wrong on the Jamie Tomlinson fight as well I felt so not sure what was going on there.  That is why they say don't leave it to the judges and as we all know these things happen all the time.  I am not trying to be harsh, all the fighters fought their asses off in the cage. Thanks to the Titan crew for the lovely hospitality, it is always a pleasure covering and supporting your Titans. (City Boy)
