CAGE TITANS 49 TEASER 8/28/2021

Cage Titans returns this Saturday August 28th to the Plymouth Memorial Hall.  Once again, Cage Titans has put together a stellar card which is sure to be another action packed night.  There are a total of 14 fights in which 7 of them are professional bouts.  There also is 2 amateur title and 2 professional title bouts.  As of right now tickets are still available online at the link here.  Also if you just want to relax at home and watch the fights the live stream is available here for just $25.00.  Warchild and I won't be able to make the drive in time due to work so we will be watching the stream on the big screen to keep you all up to date.  Don't worry Polvere, we will be able to make the next one hopefully so we can talk crypto!!  The doors will be opening at 5pm and the first fight is set to start at 6pm so don't be late!  The fight card below should be the exact fight order.  Let me break down the fight card for you and I will be skipping the 0-0 fights to save time since their isn't too much to add to those.

130  AM Steve Drayton (0-0 Citadel)  vs. Joey Rogers (0-0 Loco Lobo MMA)
145 AM Guinder Valdez (0-0 Sityodtong) vs. Ben King (0-0 Savery BJJ)

130 AM Scott Miles (0-0 Citadel) vs. Tyler Smythe (1-1 Evolution Athletix)

At 130 lbs Scott Miles will be taking on Tyler Smythe at a catch weight of 130 lbs.  Scott trains with Citadel and he will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Tyler Smythe and he trains with Evolution Athletix.  He comes into this fight with a 1-1 record with 1 win by rear naked choke and 1 loss by split decision.  I expect this to be a fast paced stand up battle and also I have to give props to Tyler for stepping up and taking this fight on 1 weeks notice.

170 AM Josh Smith (0-0 Nostos) vs. John O'Connor (0-0 Loco Lobo MMA)
135 AM Joshua Medeiros (0-0 Sityodtong) vs. Andrew Valdina (1-1 Lauzon MMA)

Then at 135 lbs Joshua Medeiros will be taking on Andrew Valdina at 135 lbs.  Josh trains with Sityodtong and he will be making his amateur debut.  His opponent is Andrew Valdina and he trains out of Lauzon MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 1-1 record with 1 win by decision and 1 loss by ko/tko in Round 2.  I see this one being a back and forth stand up war.

170 PRO Jay Ellis (15-99 Red Schaffer MMA) vs. Trevor Gudde (2-2 Citadel MMA)

In the first pro fight of the night Jay Ellis steps back into the cage for the 115th time against Trevor Gudde in the 170 lb division.  Jay trains with Red Schaffer MMA and steps into this fight with a 15-99 record.  He has lost the majority of his fights by tko to strikes and submissions in Round 1 or 2.  His opponent is Trevor Gudde and he trains out of Citadel MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 2-2 record with 1 ko/tko and 1 submission win.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and 1 by submission.  Obviously this isn't the best match up of the night and I see Trevor Gudde winning this by submission in Round 1.  Not to take anything away from Jay Ellis as he always comes prepared and willing to step in to save a fight at anytime but I just call it how I see it.

155 PRO Leo Ladeira (0-2 Sityodtong) vs. Dion Rubio (0-0 Triforce MMA)

At 155 lbs Leo Ladeira will be squaring off against Dion Rubio for the second pro fight of the night.  Leo trains with Sityodtong and comes into this fight with an 0-2 record with 1 loss by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  It also is worth noting that Leo has had a bunch of boxing fights however he is 0-6 in Boxing according to Tapology.  His opponent is Dion Rubio and he trains out of Triforce MMA.  He will be making his pro debut.  As an amateur, he went 4-1 with 3 wins by submission and 1 by split decision.  His one loss came by decision against Eddy George at Cage Titans 43.  I see this one being a ground battle.

125 AM TITLE Nate Russell (6-1 FAA) vs. Joe Poirier (2-0 SBG East)

In the first amateur title fight of the night Nate Russell will be taking on Joe Poirier in the 125 lb division.  Nate Russell trains with FAA and comes into this fight with a 6-1 record with 3 ko/tko, 2 submission and 1 by decision.  For his one loss, he lost 1 by way of submission.  His opponent is Joe Poirier and he trains with SBG East.  He comes into this fight with a 2-0 record with both wins by submission.  This is a solid match up with both fighters being finishers.  I think Nate will want to keep this fight standing for a bit to wear down Joe.  Joe will most likely want to get this fight to the mat and try to work a submission.  Either way it is going to be real fun to watch!

125 PRO Whittany Pyles (1-4 Tech MMA) vs. Kylie O'Hearn (1-2 Loco Lobo MMA)

Then at 125 lbs Whittany Pyles will be facing Kylie O'Hearn in a professional women's bout.  Pyles trains with Tech MMA & Fitness Academy.  She comes into this fight with a 1-4 record with her sole win by decision against Kristina Katsikis.  For her losses, she lost 1 by doctor stoppage, 1 by ko/tko and 2 by decision.  Her opponent is Kylie O'Hearn and she trains with Loco Lobo MMA.  She comes into this fight with a 1-2 record with her 1 win by submission.  For her losses, she lost 1 by ko/tko and 1 by decision.  This is one of those fights that could go anywhere in the cage and either fighter could win.  I see this one being a back and forth battle and going to a decision.

170 PRO Roberto Young (3-7 Team Ali) vs. Marty Navis (4-0 Lauzon MMA)

At 170 lbs Roberto Young will be squaring off against Marty Navis.  Young trains with Team Ali and comes into this fight with a 3-7 record.  In the win column, he has all 3 by ko/tko.  For his losses, he lost 1 by ko/tko and 6 by way of submission.  His opponent is Marty Navis and he trains with Lauzon MMA.  He comes into this fight with a perfect 4-0 record with  3 ko/tko and 1 submission.  Both of these fighters love to stand and slug it out so I see this one being a stand up war.

145 PRO Lionel Young (8-17 Citadel) vs. Pat Gilbride (3-1 Lauzon MMA)

Next up at 145 lbs Lionel Young will be taking on Pat Gilbride in a professional bout.  Young trains out of Citadel and comes into this fight with an 8-17 record.  In the win column, he has 1 ko/tko and 7 by submission.  For his losses, he lost 3 by ko/tko, 9 by submission, 4 by decision and 1 DQ.  His opponent is Pat Gilbride and he trains with Lauzon MMA.  He comes into this fight with a 3-1 record with 1 ko/tko and 2 by submission.  He recently lost his last fight by a decision to Joe Penafiel and he is looking to get right back at it.  I think this is a good match up for both fighters and could go either way.

145 AM TITLE Xavier Cardona (2-1 Lakeville MMA) vs. Shane Dougherty (4-0 USMMA)

Now back to the amateur division Xavier Cardona will be fighting Shane Dougherty for the 145 lb strap.  Xavier trains with Lakeville MMA and comes into this fight 2-1 record with 1 ko/tko and 1 by submission.  His 1 loss came by ko to Aaron Hughes at Cage Titans 39.  His opponent is Shane Dougherty and he trains with USMMA.  He comes into this fight with a perfect 4-0 record with 1 ko/tko and 3 decisions.  What another close match up that really could go either way.  Then add the coveted Cage Titans belt on top and you got real treat fight fans.

135 PRO TITLE Joe Penafiel (6-3 Fusion Xcel) vs. Richie Santiago (8-3 Triforce MMA)

Then in the 135 pro division Joe Penafiel will be challenging Richie Santiago for the title.  Joe trains with Fusion Xcel and comes into this fight with a 6-3 record.  In the win column, Joe has 1 submission and 5 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 by submission and 2 by decision.  His opponent is Richie Santiago and he trains with Triforce MMA.  He comes into this fight with an 8-3 record with 1 ko/tko and 7 by way of submission.  For his losses, he lost 2 by submission and 1 by decision.  Penafiel has excellent striking and good takedown defense.  He is going to want to keep this fight standing and try to get that decision win.  Richie is a solid ground guy and if he is successful at taking down Joe and keeping him to the mat then it is going to be a long night for Penafiel.  This is definitely a potential for fight of the night.

155 PRO TITLE Darius Estell (7-3 Michigan Top Team) vs. Joe Giannetti (9-4 AKA)

In the main event Darius Estell will be taking on Joe Giannetti in the 155 lb division.  Darius trains with Michigan Top Team and comes into this fight with a 7-3 record.  For his wins, he has 2 ko/tko, 2 submission and 3 by decision.  For his losses, he lost 1 ko/tko and 2 by decision.  His opponent is Joe Giannetti and he trains with AKA.  He comes into this fight with a 9-4 record with 2 ko/tko, 8 submission and 1 by way of decision.  For his losses, he lost 4 by way of decision.  Once again this is an awesome match up definitely has fight of the night potential.  I think this fight will be determined on the ground and will be a back and forth ground battle.  It is going to come down to who has the better ground game.  Then to up the ante Cage Titans has upgraded this to a title fight so it will be a 5 round war.  Don't leave early and make sure you stay for this fight!!
