CES 63 LIVE REVIEW 8/6/2021

CES is back tonight with some live mma fights at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, Mass.  Warchild and I are here making sure we keep you all up to date with the latest happenings on all of our social media.  Please make sure to refresh this article to stay up to date with round by round information.  There are a total of 10 professional fights and if you can't make it are also available live on UFC Fight Pass.  Warchild and I made sure to check out the Wahlburgers that just opened up in Springfield Mass for a quick bite before arriving.  The crowd is piling in now and the fights are about to start.  Please follow along as I recap the night.

170 PRO Sage Philippe (0-0 Team Link) vs.  Thad Jean (0-0 Florida)

Rd 1: Both fighters are working their leg kicks.  Sage dives for a takedown but gets stuffed.  Thad takes his back but cant get control and is pushed off.  The fighters stand up and collide with the ref against the cage.  They return to the center.  Thad connects with a left kick to the head that drops Sage.  Thad takes his back but can’t keep it.  Thad goes for an armbar but can’t get the tap before the round ends.

Jean 10-9

Rd 2:  Thad is connecting with some combos.  Sage is swinging back but Thad is getting the better of the striking.  Sage gets in a good combo of his own.  The crowd is getting into it and Thad beats on his chest like a gorilla!  I love it.

Rd 3:  They start out swinging.  Sage presses Thad up against the cage.  Sage tries for a single leg but can’t get it.  They collide and fall to the mat with Thad on top.  Thad works a rear naked choke for the tap.  

Thad Jean defeats Sage Phillippe via tapout to rear naked choke to at 3:59 in Round 3.

145 PRO Nick Fiore (1-0 Renzo Gracie NH)  vs.  Jay Ellis ( 15-98 Neutral Martial Arts)

Jay Ellis gets the takedown and Nick puts his legs up high and tries for an armbar.  Jay turns and Nick has his back.  He gets in some ground and pound for the ref stoppage.

Nick Fiore defeats Jay Ellis via tko stoppage to strikes at 1:29 in Round 1.

145 Nate Ghareeb (FAA 2-1) vs. Dajun Robinson (0-4)

Nate gets in a few punches and Dajun complains of an eye poke.  Doctor checks him out and fight resumes.  Dajun clinches and gets in a few knees to the body.  Nate clinches Dajun up against the cage and fires an elbow at his forehead.  They break into the center and Nate fires two leg kicks and Dajun looks hurt.  Nate keeps hitting that leg.  I can’t keep up with the action!  Dajun is backed up against the cage and Nate is firing knees to the head as the round ends.  After the bell Dajun falls right to his butt.  No way this fight is going on.

Nate Ghareeb defeats Dajun Robinson via tko stoppage to strikes at the end of Round 1.  Bell sounds and Dajun falls down to his butt.  Ghareeb with the heavy knees!

135 PRO Ashiek Ajim (3-1 Long Island MMA)  vs.  Richard Barnard (2-6)

Ashiek with double kicks.  Ashiek connects with a punch that drops Richard to the mat and he turtles.  Ashiek gets in some punches from the side and gets the rf stoppage.

Ashiek Ajim defeats Richard Barnard via tko stoppage to strikes at 34 seconds in Round 1.  That was a quickie!

145 PRO Tom Pagliarulo  (1-0 Burgess MMA) vs.  Josh Hardy (0-0 VT)

Tom goes high with a kick.  Josh rushes in and Tom gets in a right hand.  Josh connects with a right to the body.  Both fighters exchange leg kicks.  Tom misses with a kick and falls to the mat.  He gets back up.  Tom connects with a straight right that knocks Josh out the instant it hit.  

Tom Pagliarulo defeats Josh Hardy via knockout punch at 1:59 in Round 1.  What a knockout!!  Tom is a beast!

155 PRO Eddy George (2-0 FAA CT)  vs.  Tony Jackson (Rock Bottom 0-0)

Tony starts with a spinning kick that misses.  Eddy connects with a few punches and goes for the takedown.  Tony has a headlock and Eddy pulls his head free.  He passes to full mount and is dropping elbows. It goes on for about 30 seconds and the ref has seen enough.

Eddy George defeats Tony Jackson via tko stoppage to strikes at 2:06 in Round 1.

145 PRO Kody Allen Murray (0-0 VT)  vs.  Miguel Cuevas (1-0 Team Link) 

They clinch and Kody slams Miguel against the cage.  Kody takes Miguel down and gets a quick arm triangle for the tap.

135 PRO Chris Disonell  (5-4 Renzo Gracie Latham) vs.  Will Smith (3-3 Golden Falcon)

Rd 1:   Both fighters are being cautious.  Will Smith gets in an outside kick.  Chris is firing back with some punches.  Will gets in a combo that seemed to have stunned Chris.  Chris connects with a left and a right that dropped Will to the mat.  He finishes him off with a few more punches and the ref has seen enough.

Chris Disonnell defeats Will Smith via tko stoppage to strikes at 3:38 in Round 1.

125 PRO Carlos Candelario (7-0 Underdog)  vs.  Miguel Restrepo (5-5-1 Florida)

Rd 1: Miguel picks Carlos up and gets the double leg takedown.  Carlos works his way up and Miguel has the single leg.  He gets him down briefly and Carlos pops back up.  Carlos is looking for a takedown but can’t get it.  Miguel gets in a few leg kicks.  Carlos gets the takedown and knees Miguel on the way up.  Carlos shoulder tosses Miguel to the mat and gets pushed back to this feet.  Carlos has one underhook and gets Miguel to one knee but Miguel stands back up.  

Real close round Candelario 10-9

Rd 2:  Start of the round and there is a cup shot.  Miguel takes his time and the fight resumes.  Carlos has Miguel’s back and is trying to yank him to the mat.  Carlos can’t get him down and they break to the center.  Carlos is pressing Miguel up against the cage and they fall to the mat.  Carlos grabs the neck but Miguel gets out.  Carlos takes Miguel down to the mat and is working some elbows.  Miguel bucks him off and they are back standing.  Miguel pops him with a jab.  Carlos is trying for another takedown but can’t get it.  

Candelario 10-9

Rd 3:  Carlos starts us off with a leg kick.  Carlos picks Miguel up but can’t finish the slam.  Miguel has his back and gets in a knee to the head.  Miguel takes Carlos down and they bounce right back up.  They break and are back to the center.  Carlos scoops the legs of Miguel and gets him to the mat.  Miguel stands right back up.  Carlos gets in a high kick and a takedown.  He upkicks Carlos back up to his feet.  Carlos dives back in and is in guard.

Candelario 10-9

Carlos Candelario defeats Miguel Restrepo via unanimous decision.  What a back and forth battle!!  Still undefeated Carlos goes 8-0!!

185 PRO Ozzie Alvarez (8-6 King's MMA)  vs.  John Howard (28-16-1 FAF Gym)

Rd 1:  Doomsday grabs the leg and slams John to the mat.  John grabs the arm but Doomsday slips out.  He passes to full mount.  Ozzie is trying to stand back up and Doomsday has his back.  Ozzie turns and Doomsday is in half guard.  Doomsday gets in a few hammerfists before Ozzie kicks him off.  Doomsday dodges upkicks and drops back into guard.  Doomsday drops some more ground and pound and Ozzie gives up his back.  He has the back and Ozzie sweeps.  Doomsday reverses and now has the side as the round ends.

Howard 10-9

Rd 2:  Doomsday picks Ozzie up with one leg and slams him to the mat.  Doomsday is in half guard working some ground and pound.  Doomsday continues to dominate the round.  He passes to full mount right before the round ends.

Rd 3:  Doomsday starts us off with a leg kick.  Ozzie gets in a combo and Doomsday dives for the takedown.  He can’t get it and they are exchanging knees from the clinch.  Ozzie gets the single leg takedown and is in half guard.  Doomsday has the neck but can’t get the finish.  Ozzie is dropping some elbows from the top.  Doomsday gets his legs between Ozzie and flips him off.  They are back to their feet and Ozzie gets a single leg takedown as the round ends.

Alvarez 10-9

John Doomsday Howard defeats Ozzie Alvarez via unanimous decision.  What a legend!! Awards
