FORMER FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE CHALLENGER MAILLET-FEVENS VS EMMETT HUBER AT NEF 46

[NEF PRESS RELEASE]

Portland, Maine (November 29, 2021) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF 46: Decade of Dominance,” on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine. The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. The leading regional promotion launched on February 11, 2012. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of an amateur bout to the fight card. Former NEF Featherweight Title Challenger Brandon Maillet-Fevens (3-2) is scheduled to move up to Lightweight to face Emmett Huber (2-1) at a fight weight of 155 pounds.

Brandon “BAMF” Maillet-Fevens returned to the cage last August at “NEF 44: Back in Black” in Milford, New Hampshire. That night, Maillet-Fevens fought Nathaniel Grimard (4-1) for the then vacant NEF Featherweight Championship. Grimard stopped Maillet-Fevens via technical knockout (TKO) in the second round to win the belt. Prior to the title bout, Maillet-Fevens had won his last three fights in a row all by stoppage. This will be Maillet-Fevens first fight at lightweight since his MMA debut in 2018. Maillet-Fevens trains under Jesse “The Viking” Erickson (10-8) at Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) in Lewiston, Maine.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to compete once again under the NEF banner and to be a part of this 10-year anniversary show,” Maillet-Fevens stated. “I'll be stepping-up a weight class against a game opponent, but I'm going to bring the fight to him, push the pace, and give these fans the excitement they're looking for. I've yet to need the judges in five fights and this one will be no different. I've had a frustrating couple of years and, unfortunately for my opponent, I'm taking it all out on him. It's going to be fireworks from the opening bell. I plan to beat him from pillar to post until he breaks and either taps or the ref pulls me off him.”

Emmett Huber leads a busy life. In addition to working on boats in the Portland, Maine harbor, Huber also owns and operates Basket Island Oyster Company based out of Casco Bay. The married father of two still makes time to train regularly at The Academy in Portland under the watchful eyes of owners and head coaches Jay Jack (12-7) and Amanda Buckner (11-5-1). Huber, who holds a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), recently made his successful return to the cage at “NEF 45: Uprising” on November 5th when he stopped newcomer Jacob Routon (0-1) in the first round. Huber has won his last two fights in a row in the first round.

“I’m excited, and grateful for the opportunity to get back in the NEF cage in front of a hometown crowd,” Huber stated. “My jiu-jitsu is sharp and I’ll be looking for another first round submission.”

“NEF 46: Decade of Dominance” takes place on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Aura in Portland, Maine.  The event will commemorate NEF’s ten-year anniversary. Doors open at 6 pm with first fight at 7 pm.  Tickets are on sale now at www.Ticketmaster.com.
