Cage Titans Prevail July 27th, 2012 Teaser

Cage Titans is ready for their second show in little under a week.  This show is titled Prevail and will take place on July 27th, 2012.  This is a stacked card and they will be returning to the beautiful Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth MA.  Tickets are still available from the fighters and of course via ace ticket here and at the door.  There are 18 fights on the card which include 5 pro fights and two title fights.  The tickets start at just $45 dollars and the fights should start around 7:35PM.  Mike Polvere and Brandie Light have been busy doing medicals and getting two great shows for the fans this month.  Just last Saturday they invaded Dover New Hampshire for the first time and did it with great success.  Let me break down the card for you..

First fight of the evening is between Asi-yahola Somburu and Brian Morales in the 170lb division.  Asi trains out of Team Doomsday and Brian trains with Team Trifecta.  They both with be making their ammy debuts.  What a great way to kick off the show.  Then there is Dan Dubuque against Scott Dwyer in the 145lb division.  Dan is from American Top Team and Scott is from US MMA.  Just like the first fight, they both will be making their amateur debut.  The third fight of the evening is Stefanos Kampouris and Manny Bermudez at a catchweight of 148lbs Stefanos trains out of New England Martial Arts and Manny trains with SSSF.  Both fighters will be making their amateur debut.  If you are keeping count the first three fights will all be amateur debuts.  I can't wait to see the raw talent that these fighters will have.

Isaiah Queen is set to fight Mike Rodriguez at 185lbs.  Isaiah made his amateur debut just last Saturday and made it in a big way with a big slam and a guillotine victory.  He is 1-0 and trains out of Team Anubis and if he is victorious could be 2-0 in one week. Mike trains with Team Trifecta and comes into this fight with a 1-0 record.  He won his first fight back in January of 2012 at a previous Cage Titans against Stephen Kimball where he won via tko to punches in just 17 seconds.  Mike has the hands so let's see if he can do it again.  Ken Markwart will be fighting JP White at 135lbs.  Ken trains with 10th Planet JJ and has a record of 0-1.  I wasn't able to find out how he lost his first fight, sorry.  JP trains with Lauzon MMA and comes into this fight with a 1-1 record.  His first two fights were for CFX where he beat Andrew Robertson in round 1 to tko to punches and lost his a decision to Ruben Rey back in 2010.  JP "Johnny Poo Bear" is back and looking for his second amateur win.  Next is Shayne Stephenson against Mark Cardarelli at 135lbs.  Shayne is an independent fighter with a record of 2-3.  He has lost some fights via submission and has won his two fights via submission.  His losses came to very tough fighters, Rob Font, Brett Morris and Matt Tullos to be exact.  His opponent, Mark is part of the father/son fight team which many people have dubbed The Fighting Cardarelli's!  It must be such a great feeling to fight on the same card as your son.  Mark trains with USMMA and has a record of 1-1. He has won a unanimous decision and lost a unanimous decision.  This makes it very interesting since Shayne I believe has yet to go to a decision.  I am not saying it in a bad way but it was just something I noticed.

Floran Kacaku will be fighting Anthony Pepdjonovic in the heavyweight division.  This is one of the three heavyweight fights on the card.  Floran trains out of Team Doomsday and will be making his amateur debut.  Anthony trains with Team Trifecta and has a record of 1-0.  He got his sole victory back in January at a previous Cage Titans where he won via tko punches in just 36 seconds of round 1.  I would not leave to go get some beer on this fight because it might be over in the blink of an eye.  Next up is Anthony Soto against Matt Haney at 195lbs.  Anthony trains with Team Rukus and has a record of 0-2.  His two losses came to Leo Powers and Mike Ingalls where he lost to punches, one in round 1 and one in round 3.  I believe this is his first fight at 195lbs so I am anxious to see the new Anthony at 195lbs.  Matt trains with SSSF and will be making his amateur debut.  Then Edward Gillis will be facing Eddie Cornet in the heavyweight division. Edward trains with Team Doomsday and Eddie trains with 8 Elements Striking Academy.  Both names having Ed in them spells disaster for me writing the review! Lucky for you all, I have the night off and will just be a spectator.  Both fighters will be making their amateur debut.

We have three last amateur fights that make up the undercard.  Rourke Devlin will be fighting Ricky Proctor at 145lbs.  Rourke trains with Death Roll Fight Team and has a record of 1-0.  He won his first victory in May up in VT where he won via ko in just 45 seconds.  Ricky trains with Lauzon MMA and will be making his amateur debut.  Joey Proctor says Ricky is ready so that means he is ready to make a bang in the 145lb division.  This is going to be a fight you won't want to miss.  Shane Decristoforo will be facing the other half of the father/son duo Remo Cardarelli at 120lbs.  Pretty crazy thinking about how these two fighters can get down to 120lbs but they are here to show us all that flyweights are here to stay!  Shane trains with Team United Mauy Lao and has a record of 2-3.  Lil Gunz has two wins over Mike DeLosReyes and one of his losses he lost to very tough Jared Sarno.  He is at a more comfortable weight at 125 lbs and is a very entertaining fighter to watch.  Remo trains with USMMA and has a record of 1-0.  His sole win came at a previous cage titans where he won a decision against Jesse Spires.  I can't wait to see this 120lb showdown.  The last amateur fight on the undercard is between Nick Muto and Joey DiSalvo at 200lbs.  Nick is 2-0 and trains out of Cape Cod Fighting Alliance.  He won his first fight in 2009 via guillotine at a Reality Fighting event and won last January at a Cage Titans against Tony Derienzo via decision.  Joey trains out of Team Trifecta and will be making his amateur debut.

The main card like normal is where the bread and butter of the fights are.  For the first fight they have a top ranked fighters at 145lbs go head to head.  Matt Tullos will be facing Cory Pickering for the Amateur Title.  Cory trains with SSSF and is the current ammy title holder.  He has a record of 4-1 and has fought tough fighters.  His only loss came to Soap Am at a previous AFO show.  He is ready to put it all on the line and show he belongs at the top of the 145lbs division.  Matt trains out of Connors MMA and has an undefeated record of 3-0.  He is a well rounded fighter just like Cory but as Old School said this is a true test for him.  I see both fighters evenly matched and it will simply come down to who wants it more that night!  There is a title on the line and of course moving up in the ranks in the 145lb division.

The rest of the fights of the evening are professional fights and they are doozys.  The first pro fight will be between Erik Sommer and Roger Brackett in the middleweight division.  Erik trains out of CTMMA under Roger Denton and has a record of 1-1.  Eric has a loss to Jason Ward from punches and a rear naked choke ref stoppage to Ricardo Georges.  Some say the fight could have went longer but I wasn't there so I will stay out of that one, Mr. Strazzere!  He is fresh off that win and CTMMA guys are very well rounded. Roger trains with Lakeville MMA and has a record of 5-3.  Roger has two ko, 2 sub and one win due to injury.  Out of his 3 losses, one was decision and two were to submission.  One of them was to Alexandre Moreno which is no surprise there since Vaca wins most of his fights via submission.  This is a really good matchup.  Roger has more fights and the experience and Erik has raw talent and is on a win streak.

Next up is the catchweight of 180lb showdown between John Downey and Bill Mahoney.  There has been lots of back and forth banter online and it all comes to an end this Friday at Cage Titans.  Bill is from SSSF and has a pro record of 3-2.  Two of them were via submission.  He hasn't fought since 2010 but being a coach at SSSF with the beasts all around him, trust me there won't be any cage rust!  John trains out of Team Extreme.  John also hasn't fought since 2010 at least according to sherdog.com and has a record of 1-9.  Out of his 9 losses 7 of them were from submission which could spell disaster for him in the cage against Bill.  He has one KO win so he has the knockout power.  My guess is he is gonna want to keep this standing and Bill if he gets into trouble will work the ground game.  I can't wait for this one.

This next fight is one of my favorites of the entire show.  It is the heavyweight showdown between John Johnston and Garrett Moldoff.  John has had some fight cancellations lately and he will be ready.  John trains out of Sityodtong and is a coach there as well.  He has a 2-0 record and is a Muay Thai specialist.  His last fight he fought with a broken ankle and still ended up getting the win!  His opponent Garrett is making his pro debut and is out of Death Roll Fight Team.  I believe he is 4-0 amateur and all were round 1 stoppages. This is a great test for both fighters and only one beast in the cage will walk away with their hand raised.  I don't see this fight going to the judges and I predict a ref stoppage from punches or a knockout.

Chip Pollard is set to face Ricardo Georges at 170lbs.  Chip trains with CCFA and has a record of 6-4.  He started his pro career with 5 straight victories.  Since then he is 1-5 but he has fought tough guys.  He has 4 knockouts in his career and he is saying he wants to stand and bang.  Ricardo trains with Team Pradal Serey and had an outstanding amateur career.  He hasn't started out his pro career to well and is 0-2 but again he has fought tough guys as well.  Ricardo loves to stand and strike as well and this is going to another feast for fight hungry fans.  Not often enough do we hear from fighters who both say they want to stand and go at it and I for one love standup battles!!  You won't want to miss this fight.

The last fight of the evening is the lightweight title fight between Jimmy Davidson and Aniss El Hajjajy.  Jimmy trains with team Sityodtong and has an undefeated record of 4-0.  He has one KO and 3 Submission victories.  Oh I forgot to mention they were all round 1 finishes!!  This is going to be his toughest fight to date.  Aniss trains out of Team Pradal Serey and has a record of 6-3.  Aniss has 3 submission wins and two submission victories in his career.  I see this fight being a spectacular jiu jitsu battle.  I will even predict that this fight will go into the second round for the first time in Jimmy's professional career.  Then again it's MMA and anything can happen! The title is on the line and they are the main event, they will not disappoint!

Whoo that is the fight card folks.  My hands are tired from all this typing but this wraps up another teaser.  You don't want to miss this show which is packed with 18 fights.  For just $45 bux and stadium seating, it is the equivalent to an Oreo Coolatta at Dunkin Donuts(it is too good to pass up).  You can still get your tickets online and from the fighters.  Tickets are online here.  Just please add in the fighters name in the promo code spot so they can get credit.  Thanks to Cage Titans team for keeping us in the loop on this show. There are so many fights on this card that can be talked about...which one are you excited for??
